𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲: With the rapid rise of portable electronics and wearable technology, the demand for high-performance, long-lasting batteries has never been greater. However, conventional batteries are highly susceptible to mechanical stress, leading to cracks, fractures, and performance degradation. In extreme cases, these failures can trigger safety hazards such as toxic leakage or short circuits. Furthermore, repeated charging and discharging cycles gradually weaken battery structures, limiting their operational lifespan. To overcome these limitations, scientists have turned to self-healing materials—an innovative approach that enables batteries to autonomously repair damage, ensuring long-term reliability and enhanced safety. "Self-healing batteries represent a paradigm shift in energy storage technology," says Dr. Li Song, one of the lead researchers. "By incorporating materials that can autonomously repair damage, we are addressing some of the most critical challenges in battery durability and safety. This technology has the potential to revolutionize not only consumer electronics but also electric vehicles and renewable energy storage systems." 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲: https://lnkd.in/dka66rRx 郑州大学

The new project "Bio-based polyesters for demanding long-term applications" by Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF aims to improve the long-term properties of biopolymers through tailored additivation enabling their use in technical applications. Therefore, the researchers are looking for partners along the value chain that would like to substitute petro-based plastics with bio-based solutions for durable products. 𝗢𝘅𝘆𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘀: To mitigate global climate change, emissions of the primary culprit, carbon dioxide, must be drastically reduced. A newly developed process helps solve this problem: CO2 is directly split electrochemically into carbon and oxygen. As a Chinese research team reports in the journal Angewandte Chemie, oxygen could also be produced in this way under water or in space—without requiring stringent conditions such as pressure and temperature.
