With #humanrights, democracy and the rule of law increasingly under attack in #Europe, independent and effective #Ombuds and #NHRIs have a key role to play as guardians of our values. At "High-level conference with Ombudsperson Institutions and National Human Rights Institutions" organised by Council of Europe today, I assured them of my firm support and cooperation.

I met today with Ceslav Panico, the Ombuds of the Republic of #Moldova. The Moldovan authorities should ensure that he can exercise his independent #humanrights mandate free from interference. I look forward to cooperating with him for the promotion of human rights in the country.

On my last day in Ukraine, I received a briefing at the Coordination HQ for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, visited Okhmatdyt children’s hospital bombed by Russia in 2024, and met with Deputy PM-Minister for National Unity Oleksiy Chernyshov.
