As we approach the "Building Minds: A Conference on Mental Health in Construction," we're excited to announce our final speaker and share important information about workplace mental health initiatives in Michigan. We are honored to have Sean Egan as our closing speaker. Sean brings a unique blend of experience as a lifelong West Michigander, Navy veteran, and advocate for working people and families. Key highlights of Sean's background: Journeyman Electrician and active union member  Former head of the Local Union representing various industries  Served on the Board of the Heart of West Michigan United Way  Holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Juris Doctor  Currently serves as Deputy Director of Labor at Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO)  Sean's extensive experience in labor relations, coupled with his current role overseeing crucial agencies like MIOSHA and the Workers Disability and Compensation Agency, makes him an invaluable voice in our discussion on mental health in the construction industry. With registration only open for one more week, we are thrilled to announce our third speaker, Mark R. Dyke, CM-BIM, LEED AP, LPC. With more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry Mark is a professor, consultant, speaker, therapist, and business owner (Collaborative Counseling Group). He brings a unique perspective to mental health safety in construction as an experienced construction professional and licensed mental health therapist. He has taken his passion for helping others along with his experience in the construction industry and combined them to address the issue of mental health and safety in construction. His goal is to help change the lives of those working to build our communities and he does this through training, speaking, and advocating for mental health safety on topics such as suicide awareness and prevention, conflict resolution, stress and burnout, communication skills, and more.   In the following weeks we will showcase our last speaker. Steve is a recognized leader in both the construction industry and the diversity and inclusion space, directing over 350 employees and four subsidiaries in his previous role as president of Allied Mechanical, one of Michigan’s largest mechanical contracting firms. During his 30+ year history in commercial and industrial construction, he overcame personal challenges and will join us to share his knowledge and experience with depression, anxiety and addiction. We are please to announce our newest blog post! The council continues to believe that diversity is the cornerstone of progress, and we are committed to creating a space where women thrive in a traditionally male dominated field. The Women Who Build West Michigan Series is dedicated to promoting career awareness for women but deliver stories for all to enjoy and inspire! We recently sat down with Anna Meyer at CS Erickson, an assistant project manager who shares her experiences as a woman in the male-dominated field. We take a look into her daily life, navigating the fast-paced world of project management with poise and organization. She shares the rewards of creating connections and the sense of accomplishment that comes with seeing a project through.! He is also the founder of "The Worry Work Group" and host of the "Chaplaincy On The Go" podcast, demonstrating his dedication to helping people navigate their anxieties and promote emotional well-being.
