Founder/Managing Principal at IA | C-Suite Advisor | HR Transformational Leader | Transformation Columnist | he/him
As my chair role of Elevate People, Ignite Change (EPIC) conference comes to a close, I want to thank all of the amazing speakers, attendees, sponsors, Human Resource Executive journalists, and ETC (Media & Events) staff for an amazing inaugural event. I was honored to serve in this capacity and hope that everyone walked away with new ideas and a keen focus on the criticality of people centricity as we navigate through unprecedented challenges and opportunities. My final thank you goes to Vesela Zehirev, Katherine Ragia and the entire Philanthropy and Community Engagement team at MGM Resorts International for their help in putting together an activity in support of Communities In Schools of Nevada. As Dawn Kawamoto depicts, below, the energy and engagement was palpable as we assembled hundreds of hygiene kits for those in need. What an amazing celebration of giving, so thank you one and all. EPIC will be back this fall as a component of the HR Technology Conference & Exposition, and I hope to see you all at the show. Thank you once again!
Elevate People, Ignite Change (EPIC) comes to a close today after three days of #HR learning about building culture and belonging and boosting EX from such experts as WeightWatchers’ #chiefpeopleofficer Tiffany Stevenson, author Adam Smiley Poswolsky and Amazon financial wellness executive Justin Roberts. Today, I’m interested in checking out three sessions: Dickens Aubourg on “disrupted leadership” and innovating in the age of acceleration; Kimberly Carroll and Mary Faulkner from IA, who are sharing ways to go “From Frustration to Focus: Activating Your EPIC insights”; and Kevin Oakes and Marshall Bergmann of i4cp. Their session on culture features “18 Leadership Actions to Build an Unshakeable Company.” Attendees also came together to do good last night, packing 400 hygiene kits to donate to the Las Vegas chapter of Communities in Schools. EPIC chair Mark Stelzner organized the donations and called on attendees to help pack the kits. And they stepped up. Here’s a look:

The latest from Dawn Kawamoto at this year's Elevate People, Ignite Change (EPIC) conference in Vegas!
I’m back at Elevate People, Ignite Change (EPIC) today and very impressed with this morning’s keynote from Tiffany Stevenson, #chiefpeopleofficer at WeightWatchers. She provided actionable advice on scaling an organization’s mission and values. Yesterday, attendees heard a fascinating session about the Cherokee Nation, moderated by conference chair Mark Stelzner. The panelists -Corey Bunch, Paula Starr and Samantha Hendricks–shared how they turned the Cherokee Nation into a Top 10 employer by holding onto traditions and culture. Later, Kevin Oakes, CEO of research firm The Institute for Corporate Productivity (i4cp) and author of Culture Renovation, will follow up with another keynote. He’ll share the secrets for developing a “fit” culture, which research links with high-performance companies. I’ll be sure to share those in my story afterward. Find that piece and others by following the Human Resource Executive LinkedIn page and subscribing to our newsletters. Link in the comments.

Dozens of people-centric conference sessions are on tap today at the Elevate People, Ignite Change (EPIC) conference, which kicks off in Las Vegas. I’m excited about hearing and sharing insights from the energetic Adam Smiley Poswolsky–check out my story on the session afterward! Later, I’ll be visiting the Expo Hall to check in with some of the amazing vendors and sponsors (HiBob, Dayforce and many others) at the show with us. I’ll also be covering other sessions (Cherokee Nation) and interviewing some of our outstanding speakers, including Dieter Veldsman (Phd) of AIHR | Academy to Innovate HR and Kevin Oakes of The Institute for Corporate Productivity (i4cp). To find all of our stories, videos and other content from the show (and on related HR and HRtech topics), follow the HRELinkedIn page and subscribe to our daily newsletter. Links in comments. Today’s attendees, meanwhile, are bolstering their energy with a bountiful breakfast. I should probably do likewise.
