About us

The Family Advocacy Outreach Network (FAON) is a voluntary network connecting victims and families with mental health service providers and other organizations within their communities. FAON seeks the expertise of experienced treatment professionals and service organizations who are willing to provide therapeutic services pro bono or at a low sliding-scale fee to the families of missing and/or sexually exploited children. If you provide direct services to families, we need you. For professionals seeking more information about the requirements of becoming a participant in this voluntary network, you can learn more on our website: missingkids.org/support#faon

  • Today, October 10, is World Mental Health Day. This day is the result of global advocacy and an awareness program started by the World Federation for Mental Health in 1992. The goal of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health. Today, and everyday, is an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what else needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide. We are so grateful to our Family Advocacy Outreach Network (FAON) and the incredible work you do to support people in the mental health field.

The module should only take ~15 minutes to complete and has a wealth of knowledge that will help you help others as they begin their healing process. Log into your NCMEC Connect account today to access the module. If you still need to create your NCMEC Connect account, click on the link below to get started.  https://lnkd.in/eSS-vNgY

  • Did you know...? July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month! As a valued member of FAON, you understand the importance of mental health regardless of where you come from. It's important to take a moment to appreciate one's access to mental health services, but also to recognize there is a lot of work to be done in mental health recognition and access, especially for underserved and underrepresented communities of color. FAON is ready and proud to serve those in need of mental health intervention and we are here to support you every step of the way! If you'd like to learn more about National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, please check out the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) article by clicking on the link below: https://lnkd.in/ehMfmphK Additionally, in May and June, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), along with other federal, state, and local agencies, conducted their second nationwide search called, Operation We Will Find You 2 (OWWFY2). This amazing and collaborative effort resulted in the recovery of 200 missing children across the country. Learn more about this incredible feat by clicking the link below: https://lnkd.in/eZKPN9Z5 Finally, if you haven't done so already, please check out our newest course on your NCMEC Connect account called, Mitigating Trauma During Recovery & Reunification After Family Abduction. It has amazing and important insights for what FAON members can do when assisting with the recovery and reunification of family members after an abduction has occurred. You can find it in your NCMEC Connect account in the FAON Content Catalog. As always, thank you for all the incredible work you do every day and happy National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month!
