After securing justice against her traffickers, she co-founded Shakti Samuha, the world’s first survivor-led anti-trafficking organization. For nearly 30 years, Shakti Samuha has provided survivors with shelter, education, and legal support. With Our Rescue’s assistance, border security measures have intercepted over 700 people at risk of trafficking—and more safe spaces are desperately needed for these children. From chemistry major to crime scene investigator to digital forensics expert, Dream Hansakunathai has carved a deeply meaningful path in the fight against sex trafficking and child exploitation. "I grew up watching superhero movies and wanted to save people as a kid. My current job has fulfilled that dream," she shares. As a Digital Forensics Lab Analyst for Our Rescue in Thailand, Dream and her female-led team use cutting-edge technology to extract hidden data and track traffickers, bringing justice for survivors. This International Women’s Week, we honor the incredible work of Perpetual Adu-Gyamfi, a dedicated Our Rescue outreach coordinator in Ghana who is transforming lives through education, awareness, and advocacy. Perpetual travels to schools, churches, and remote communities, speaking openly about human trafficking and sexual exploitation to raise awareness. Despite cultural barriers and some resistance to change, she has reached over 20,000 people, empowering children to speak up and seek help. "I am proud to say this awareness campaign has encouraged learners to break their silence and report cases of sexual abuse and exploitation, an essential step toward healing and justice," says Perpetual. Just last month, 15 students bravely reported abuse happening in their homes after hearing her speak. Her impact is real, and her work is urgent. William Haslach, a 30-year-old former Twin Cities school employee, has been federally charged for allegedly using AI to create sexualized images of children in his care. He previously worked in multiple schools as a paraprofessional, lunch monitor, and youth program assistant. Authorities say Haslach took non-explicit photos of students and altered them using AI to generate child sexual abuse material (CSAM). He faces charges that include possessing and receiving CSAM, as well as the production of obscene materials. Every child deserves a childhood free from fear, abuse, and exploitation. We applaud authorities for their work to stop this exploitation. Our Rescue was not involved in this case, but we are dedicated to helping protect the most vulnerable, ensuring justice is served, and providing survivors with the care and support they need to heal.
