So, as some of you might’ve heard, our EY team ( EYers) snagged second place in the global Hackathon organized by IBM at the #TechXchange conference! Pretty cool, right? Huge shoutout to to my teammates: Daniel, Łukasz. We even ran an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session about our idea. It was a great way to chat about #BussyBee, get some feedback, and answer a few burning questions. We also had the chance to get feedback from a speaker coach and a Toastmaster pro( thanks Paul). The tips were super helpful, and I mean, who knew one of them involved glasses? Congrats to the first place team (Tushar and Suhas) for their idea on boosting productivity in restaurants and the third place crew (Itelvina and others) for helping students make data-driven decisions about their futures! Once I’m back in Poland, I’ll share a full breakdown with numbers, outcomes, and what's next. Big thanks to everyone who had their fingers crossed for us! #Hackathon #SecondPlace #EYers

VP, IBM watsonx Platform Engineering and Open Innovation

Earlier this week IBM launched the 3rd generation of our AI open source models, Granite 3.0. This is the culmination of many months of work on the models themselves and the surrounding experiences, and before that years of foundational work. One thing I am particularly proud of is the work of our IBM Research Design and Incubation organization under Susana Rodriguez de Tembleque who apply their deep expertise at the intersection of technology and design to make leading edge technology accessible and delightful to a broad set of users. In this release, this team made many contributions, but in particular they led the creation of a new Granite documentation web site (https://lnkd.in/gXPB9BRu) and the new Granite playground, that lets users explore and experiment with the models (https://lnkd.in/gFd_GkCM). As always, it takes a team, so kudos to Susana’s excellent leaders and team members including Kate Blair, Justin MacNair, Connor Leech, Ibrahim Ahmad Ibrahim, Lindsay (Entsminger) Lehane, Lara Neich, Kelly McGowan, Pavel Bucka, Martin Zadrazil, Radek Liska, Richard Karmazin, Helen Stanton, Graham White, James Sutton, Michael Desmond, and Sue Kim. cc Dario Gil, Sriram Raghavan Ruchir Puri
