A standout customer experience doesn’t just happen, it is designed that way. At LinkedIn, we know that creating these customer experiences takes simple, repeatable techniques that teams can apply every day. In his latest LinkedIn Learning course, Sam Stern shares six foundational CX principles—like using plain language, setting clear expectations, and closing loops—that will help bridge the gap between knowing what makes a great experience and actually delivering it. The role of Product Design is constantly evolving. Because of this, lines can often be blurred between design, product, and strategy. To overcome this, designers are playing a bigger role than ever in shaping strategy, defining north star metrics, and driving business growth alongside product leadership. So what does this mean for the future of design leadership? 🤔 In their latest Substack article, Anukriti and Harrison explore just that. Take a read: https://lnkd.in/gCsQRjiJ #LinkedInDesign #ProductDesign #DesignLeadership
The phrase “full-stack” has been around forever in engineering. But now the role of Product Design is evolving in that direction too—what does it even mean? Will designers take on the role of a PM or vice versa? How will design leadership change? In this article Harrison and I share our thoughts on all of the above and more. This brings us to the end of our 3 part Substack series on conversations on design leadership. If you're curious about design leadership, give it a read and subscribe to our Substack for more such content! #designleadership #productdesign #UX #design #tech #designtools #AI #LinkedInDesign

We’re always looking for ways to increase simplicity and value across member experiences. To help solve this, we’ve launched a fresh approach to member profile completion. In this update, we help guide members through actionable steps that lead to a robust profile, and avoid overwhelming them with too many choices. What an honor to be a guest speaker for Dr. Jennifer King's "Identifying Dark Patterns" class at Stanford last week! I discussed how, despite how cynical we may be in this moment, study after study shows that consumers need to trust companies and products they use now more than ever –– and that trust is, in itself, a differentiating value proposition. #TrustMatters

Design is the opposite of “one-and-done.” Our designers are constantly revising and reworking our products to make them more useful for our members. What is often a small tweak on our end can significantly impact the value that product offers. For example, we heard from you that your milestones, or “props” as we call them, weren’t standing out in feed, so we set out to fix that! We added a more visual background color and updated the header text to make work anniversary and promotion announcements stand out more. We also adjusted the flow, directing commenters to the individual's page rather than the company's; this encourages engagement. Check out this post from VP of Product Management, Gyanda Sachdeva, to learn more about recent changes in design. #LinkedInDesign #ProductDesign #UX #UI
Back with another LinkedIn product update - this time focused on product design improvements. Sometimes, we know a tool or feature works well for our members, but might need a tweak to stand out. Changing the size, layout, or visual can be a simple, but impactful change to make sure our members see updates and insights that matter to them. Two recent examples of this: We know that landing your job or celebrating a work anniversary are big milestones in your career - and we want them to feel that way. We are refreshing the look and feel of these updates in the feed, to make them more visual and help create a moment that your connections can easily recognize and engage with. Second, we wanted a consistent, more visually appealing way to spotlight recent activity on the profile - not to mention, a way to showcase the great content members are sharing with their audiences. So, we redesigned the activity section, and brought images or videos that were shared alongside the post to the forefront in a bigger way. Check out the before/afters below and let me know what you think! As always, huge shoutouts to the teams behind these changes.
