1.3 Million meters coming to Yorkshire Water! Yorkshire Water is embarking on a major initiative to replace 1.3 million existing water meters with smart meters, starting in 2025, pending regulatory approval. This initiative aims to enhance service, reduce leakage, and improve customer billing accuracy The transition to smart metering will enable a better understanding of water demand, lead to efficient water usage, and significantly reduce carbon emissions in treatment and distribution. Partnerships with Netmore and Morrison Water Services will ensure the smooth installation and maintenance of these connected meters.  #sustainability #watermanagement

💧 Wexford saves over 800,000 litres of water daily! 🌊 Wexford has successfully saved over 800,000 litres of water daily following the detection and repair of 70 major leaks this year—enough to meet the daily needs of more than 6,000 people. This achievement underscores the importance of addressing water loss, as significant amounts of clean drinking water were previously lost underground. Advanced Acoustic Noise Loggers were utilised to accurately locate the leaks, contributing to a more reliable water supply for the community. As efforts continue to reach a national leakage rate of 25% by 2030, this initiative highlights ongoing commitments to water conservation and infrastructure enhancement across the region. #waterconservation #sustainability #cleanwater #leakages

Water suppliers in the UK and Sweden are leveraging artificial intelligence to tackle leakage and optimise resource management. 🔍 Case in Point: •VA SYD in Sweden reduced water loss by 2% using AI to detect leaks as small as 0.25 litres. •Yorkshire Water implemented AI to predict blockages in sewage systems, identifying 90% of potential issues before they cause flooding. While AI usage does require water for cooling servers, the overall benefits—enhanced efficiency and reduced waste—are clear. #watermanagement #watercrisis #waterefficiency

How can #AI tools reduce water loss in a time of crisis?💧 ❓Did you know that leaks can waste up to 70% of drinking water in some areas? That’s the reason our TUBERS Project came into being. Still, there are other initiatives, like the one by the FIDO Tech, that can quickly and accurately detect leaks. In collaboration with Microsoft, FIDO's tool identifies leaks by analysing sound data, enabling utilities to prioritise repairs and minimise wasted resources. #waterconservation #sustainability #smarttech
