✨ Intern Spotlight: Katie Craig ✨ In the Department of Supply Chain Management, experiential learning is the foundation of everything we do and a core reason why our students are well-equipped for the supply chain industry upon graduation. With that, every student majoring in Supply Chain Management is required to intern with a company to gain real, hands-on work experience. Today we check in with Katie and her role as area Manager Intern at the Walmart ORD1 Next Gen Fulfillment Center 3040 in Joliet, Illinois: Q: What is the best part of being an intern? A: This has been a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience and work on a project that will have a real impact in my building, improving rates and helping the associates. Q: How has your supply chain management classes prepared you for the internship? A: I am very thankful to all my professors who support me, whether that is in the classroom or lending career advice. My classes have helped me gain skills in data analysis, identifying inefficiencies, and able to problem solve within supply chain processes. Q: What is some advice you would give other students that are about to start an internship? A: Network as much as possible- ask to job shadow people, take advantage of the supply chain shadow day our university sets up, and informing your professors on your career goals because they have a wide network, and they love to help us! Utilizing LinkedIn to build connections is key! #SupplyChainU

Today we check in with Azucena and her role with Toyota North America as a supply chain intern in the DSM department: Q: What is the best part of being an intern? A: The best part of being an intern is getting hands on experience. I am able to work on real work that impacts my team and through this, I have learned a lot. Q: How has your supply chain management classes prepared you for the internship? A: My supply chain classes have prepared me for my internship by teaching me fundamental skills like problem solving and team work. I learned important supply chain concepts that I apply to my work every day. Taking these classes has put me a step ahead of other interns! Q: What is some advice you would give other students that are about to start an internship? A: Invest time into preparing for your interview. Acing it pays off in the future. Also, be aware of when applications open and close. Big companies like to hire early and often times hire semesters in advance! #SupplyChainU
