Tired of fighting enemies up close? Looking for an alternative way to shortcut approach combat? Craft yourself a blaster. This mod uses the Archery Framework to add a range of blaster pistols, rifles, and energy weapons. Weapons come with custom reload and firing sounds.
The Aim:
I found the Archery framework to be very fun, but a bit difficult to use. I either frequently missed or when I did land a hit, enemies were still swarming me faster than I could kill them. These blasters aim to make ranged combat more viable by cranking the damage way up and rewarding your carefully placed shots.
All the weapons have big knockback, and the basic ammo will trigger a small, low damage explosion that will pushback enemies, even when you miss. All of this is to help you create room so you have time to line up your next shot.
These weapons are very over-powered once you get the hang of the shooting mechanics, but that's kind of the point. I had a ton of fun playing with these, I hope you do too.
Installation:
1. Download and install the required mods.
2. Download this mod's .zip file.
3. Unpack the zip into the "Stardew Valley/Mods" folder created by SMAPI
4. Run the game with SMAPI
5. Pew pew everything!
Weapons:
Blasters:
NN-14 Blaster Pistol - Rey's blaster. Compact, reliable, large clipsize. This blaster is craftable with early game materials and will easily blast your way through the Mines and the Skull Caverns.
IB-95 Blaster Pistol - The Mandalorian's blaster. Consistent damage, medium knockback, medium clip size. This is where this mod started, a reliable blaster. Damage is balanced for late game dungeons; Ginger Island Volcano and Dangerous Mines (Qi Quests).
DL-44 Blaster Pistol - The classic Han Solo blaster. Shoot first and dodge bounties later. This is a powerful pistol with high knockback. Chance and luck play a role here, this weapon has a big range for min and max damage.
EE-3 Blaster Pistol - Boba Fett's signature rifle. Includes auto-fire function. Hold down fire to continue shooting. Be warned, this will eat through ammo quickly.
Phase-Pulse Blaster Rifle - Disintegrate anything in one shot. Only loads one round at a time but the damage is set to comfortably one-shot any enemy in the game. Aim carefully and watch things die. Sound effects so satisfying you might not be able to put it down. Only able to use Pulse Rifle ammo.
Bowcaster - Chewie's favorite. Charge up a large, powerful blast with huge knockback that will bounce up to three times until it finds a target. This weapon does not require ammo but requires longer to charge before firing.
Energy Bow - a Zygerrian energy bow like the one Omega uses in The Bad Batch. Includes internal, unlimited ammo that has a high chance to stun enemies.
Ammo types:
Red Laser Pack - triggers a small, low damage explosion on impact. Slays mummies.
Blue Laser Pack - has a chance to stun enemies
Pulse Rifle Cartridge - triggers a large, high damage explosion on impact. High crit chance.
*All laser projectiles generate a small bit of colored light around the bolt. Fire them in the dark to see the full effect.
Blaster (Archery) Mechanics:
1. Craft the Blasters and Ammo. If everything installed correctly, the recipes will pop up in your crafting menu with no further requirements.
2. Equip Ammo. Blasters equip ammo the same way as a fishing rod or a slingshot. Some ammo is exclusive to specific weapons.
3. Load the Blaster. Hold down the weapon button to load the ammo into the blaster. Clip size varies by blaster.
4. Shoot. Once the blaster is loaded, click again to fire. Hold down to aim.
