Although we haven’t seen a move to offer free unlimited phone calls to Haiti by AT&T, they’re finally stepping it up in their efforts to aid relief workers in the country. Unlike the free unlimited phone calls to Haiti that Verizon, T-Mobile, and Cricket Wireless were offering, AT&T is opting to waive wireless charges for customers who are in Haiti. This applies to any relief workers that are in the country helping out who have AT&T Wireless service – phone calls, data usage, and text messages that were made since January 12 will be waived. Although it took some time for the carrier to start offering this, AT&T will continue to waive charges until February 28, 2010. Once that date passes, AT&T will continue to develop a calling/data plan specifically for relief workers in Haiti who plan on staying there after March 1. This new move already supplements AT&T’s commitment in aiding the country which includes more than $12.3 million through the Red Cross International Relief fund.
