French government approves legislation that bans students from using phones in school

There's no surprise how much kids and teenagers rely on their cell phones to keep connected to one another. They're probably the single most demographic that relies heavily on text messaging to communicate. In a school environment, especially during class time, it is extremely frowned upon using it – with even some schools banning students from using them. In France, the government approved a draft legislation that bans mobile phones from being used at primary and middle schools. Such a ban is receiving both positives and negatives from both sides – one Senator points out that the ban should be limited for older pupils who can use them in the corridors during breaks. Strangely enough though the proposed legislative ban was  approved for health reasons as opposed to educational ones - the government wanted to apply the “principle of precaution.” Although some schools in the US have certain bans in place, it would be something bigger if the government puts their foot into the matter.
