Samsung to pull the plug on its ChatON instant messaging app, users will have time to export and archive their content
Remember Samsung's ChatOn? It's Sammy's own chat client, which debuted back in 2011 and has since transformed itself into something of a Viber lookalike – with the phone number registration, stickers, and whatnot. Well, unfortunately, it never managed to truly pick up, bogged down by the stiff competition, so Samsung has finally decided to reroute its resources and cut ChatON off.

The company says that ChatOn will become ChatOff on February the 1st in all regions, except for the US, where it will shut down at some point in the first quarter of 2015 (which should mean – not later than the end of March). Sammy assures ChatOn users that they will have the choice to export and archive all of their conversations and shared pictures.

According to the company, this move is part of the changes Sammy is making in order to meet changing market demands and provide services, focused on health and mobile commercs.

Are you a ChatOn user, or is this the first time you hear about the app? If you wish to give it a whirl before it's gone for good, you can grab it from the Play Store, Galaxy Apps store, Windows Phone Store, or Apple's App store, links below.

ChatOn: Android | iOS | Windows Phone
