Moto G-series devices have been dominating the US low-cost charts for many years now, but as competition continues to heat up in the sub-$300 and even sub-$200 space, the G7 was recently unveiled with a modern design, respectable specifications, and $299 price tag. If that doesn't sound ideal, it's important to keep in mind your 300 bucks will buy you a generous 4GB RAM/64GB ROM combo. Besides, a $199 and $249 Moto G7 Play and G7 Power are also scheduled to come "soon" to the US.
In the meantime, bargain hunters may want to know the "regular" Moto G7 is already discounted... under certain conditions. Although the handset hasn't even started shipping, going up for pre-order a few days back, Best Buy will let early adopters easily save up to a cool $100. All you need to do is activate your wireless service right away.
Whether you're a new or existing Sprint subscriber looking for an upgrade, that's going to bring the 6.2-incher's price down to $199.99. Meanwhile, Verizon and AT&T activations get a decent $50 discount of their own, and obviously, electing to activate the phone after you order it means you'll have to cough up the full $299.99. In any case, you're still looking at an unlocked device you can take to a different carrier (even T-Mobile) whenever you like.
Available in "Clear White" and "Ceramic Black" paint jobs, the Moto G7 doesn't have a firm release date listed at Best Buy, but you probably won't have to wait too long. Motorola expects to start fulfilling orders made through the company's official website on March 4, for instance, while B&H Photo Video promises March 1 availability. Yup, this Friday. Of course, Motorola and B&H are not ready to offer deals of any sort just yet.
At $200 or $250, the G7 arguably delivers some crazy good bang for your buck, including a "Max Vision" Full HD+ display with a small U-shaped notch, decent Snapdragon 632 processing power, dual 12 + 5MP rear-facing cameras with "high res zoom" capabilities, "all-day" battery, blazing fast charging, and naturally, Android 9.0 Pie software out the box. The Sony Xperia 10 can't touch that.
