Each one of us has a need to be deeply heard. To be listened to in a space that is empathic, accepting and without judgment can be a life-changing experience. As a therapist, compassion and acceptance are foundational values for my work. You come with your own unique life story, influenced by your family of origin, adult relationships and experiences. By reflection and exploration, I help facilitate a therapeutic space which allows you to explore the deeper parts of your self and discover new possibilities. I believe each person has the innate wisdom to discover how they can flourish and thrive again.
I have received training in Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy, EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, (Level 1). I also draw on insights from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Trauma Training and Compassionate Inquiry. I have facilitated psycho-educational groups with a focus on domestic violence, healthy boundaries, and older adults at risk of elder abuse.
In our first session, you'll have an opportunity to share your story and give voice to the concerns that bring you to counseling. From there, we'll go deeper and begin to explore possible root causes of distress, then moving toward changes that will allow you to again thrive.
