As a 2nd gen Asian-American born to immigrant parents, my cultural identity has been one of depth and confusion. Holding values from my parent’s home countries, mixed with my American values; it has widened my understanding of mental health from a cultural lens. I'd like to provide a space for those exploring their identities and culture and how it has played a part in your upbringing and development. I understand family values are important, but sometimes can conflict with our own individual goals and experiences. In the space, I hope you can feel comfortable to casually show up as you are.
I use a client-centered approach where you have space to lead the session with guided questions. Understandably, counseling may be an unfamiliar or uncomfortable territory for those new, so I want to be as transparent of the process as possible. My work focuses on your story and experiences. I am also trained in Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) & Gottman Lvl1
I work with those curious, and some, confused about their identity or upbringing. We are not a monolith with our cultures and I am happy to support those to dive deeper into how these important pieces make us who we are today. Whether it's learned people pleasing from parent pleasing as a child, or wanting to create a new narrative for yourselves.
