When working with clients I meet them where they are at in their journey for change- whether they are unsure of what in life needs to be different or if they are already maintaining progress and change. Wherever a client is starting their therapy journey I am here to help increase insight and understanding into problems and help people come up with effective ways to manage symptoms, relationships, or seasons of transition. Areas of focus I help most clients with include skills-based anxiety and depression symptom management, trauma recovery with EMDR or talk therapy, and post-break up or divorce recovery.
I take a person-centered approach to counseling and believe each individual has the strengths and capabilities to make change. For growth and recovery to take place the counseling relationship must be empathetic, open-minded, and non judgmental. I also encourage clients to take an active role in goal setting and deciding which options work best for them.
Reaching out for support can be daunting but it does not need to be. You may feel unsure of how the process works or have had unsuccessful attempts in the past. I strive to understand and help all clients, both familiar with and new to counseling, in ways that work best for each individual.
