I work with individuals with a variety of mental health diagnosis and concerns. Some people come to counseling to process a traumatic event, some come to talk about the stress they're experiencing at their job, and some come just to learn about why they haven't been feeling their best emotionally lately. If you feel like you could even pinpoint exactly why you feel how you do, but it just doesn't make it better, I'm the counselor for you. I don't just help you figure out why, I help you DO something with what you learn about yourself so you can move past any barriers you have.

At times in our life (or at all times) we struggle with the people around us. Relationships aren't easy, and often we are downright clueless about how to handle them. Cue, me. I'm really good at helping you move from what you've got, to what you want. Don't get excited, I'm not magic, but I am here and very interested in helping you sort through whatever life is throwing at you.

Do you struggle with really saying what it is you want? Is not saying how you feel causing tension and conflict in your relationships? Are you exhausted and frustrated by feeling like you can’t live the life you want? And it seems like almost everyone expects you to do it all and be someone completely different than who you really want to show up as. Maybe you’ve been daydreaming about how it would feel for your relationships to be even a fraction better? But now, more than ever, you are feeling stuck, anxious, or hopeless about overcoming your different relationship stressors at work, with your kids, or even in bed.

Many of the people who work with us are trying to find ways of controlling the emotions swirling around them, but it just feels like trying to grasp at sand in a sandstorm - the particles smacking them in the face, blurring their vision of the world, and causing them to flail about in futile attempts to stop the storm. Emotions similarly can cloud judgment and lead us to lash out in futile attempts to stop the pain. The more we try to control the whipping winds, the more energy we waste. We believe the key to surviving the storm is to accept its existence and skillfully cope with it.

My goal is to always provide a place of acceptance and safety. I work to empower others to feel a sense of belonging and explore their potential. We are all two sides of the same coin; both strong and vulnerable, confident and insecure, emotional and logical. None of these are more important or valuable than the other, but all are intricate pieces that make up the human experience deserving of a voice and validation.

Life is a complex journey, filled with its fair share of struggles, obstacles, transitions, and adjustments. These challenges can originate from early experiences in childhood or adolescence, or they may arise from more recent events. Each of these experiences contributes to our current state of being, influencing how we navigate the world and interact with others. My role as a therapist is to help you explore and understand these influences, facilitating a deeper sense of self-awareness and personal transformation.

What I have found consistently in my work is that taking the first step towards a goal is typically the most challenging. When we think about our goals, or just simply our responsibilities and tasks for the day, we can quickly get caught up in a fantasy of what could be. Yet, when it comes to taking actual action, things seems daunting. Although we may know a change is needed, a life of inaction inevitably seems to prevail. As a licensed Clinical Psychologist, it is my goal to provide the highest quality psychological services to those that are tired of waiting and are willing and ready to take action.

All humans experience various transitional times during their lives. These times can be amazing and filled with so much happiness and hope, or they can be unbearable and blanket us in emotions we have no idea how to experience. Maybe you are experiencing mental health symptoms that you have not wanted to share with anyone else because you know you'll sound "crazy" or you have a place in the community where you can't be open about them.

Life is difficult. You can be coasting along, only to wake up and find you just don’t have the same kind of joy and excitement that you used to. Activities and being with people you used to enjoy now just feel dull and lifeless or fill you with anxiety and, no matter what you do, nothing changes. You have difficulty falling asleep and, when you finally do, you wake up feeling exhausted and unrested. Your relationships may often be defined by constant fighting, insecurity, or lack of connection and excitement. Issues of sexual integrity fill you with shame, and, no matter what you do, you continue to struggle.

I know that reaching out for help can be one of the hardest things any of us do. That’s why I aim to make your experience with help-seeking and mental health as approachable and, dare I say, as fun as possible. I believe that counseling and therapy should be an experience that challenges us in different ways and pushes us to grow through our problems. That’s why, in addition to traditional one-on-one therapy, I offer different approaches such as animal-assisted therapy and support services for those dealing with hereditary cancers.
