Being told your voice is not valued because you’re young is the worst. Your voice matters. Often as a young adult/teen/child, we’re told, “just do it,” and “that’s just the way it is.” Or maybe you’re the parent wanting to connect with your child and asking yourself, “what happened?” I am here to support Gen Z and/or their families with each family member finding their voice, being seen for their individuality, and fostering reconnection with one another and your family’s roots/values. Every voice in the family matters and is valuable and strong and I would be honored to support your quest in nurturing this personal/family growth.

My aim is to help you see yourself not as flawed or broken, but as worthy. Seeking therapy isn’t always easy when life is not going in the direction you were hoping. Life can be incredibly painful at times. It is helpful to have someone in our corner, who will support and validate, as well as guide and challenge when necessary. I am passionate about helping others and I believe in developing strong relationships with my clients and use a collaborative approach to help you reach your goal. Trusting a therapist and allowing yourself to be vulnerable can be challenging but the end results will be worth the journey.

Most therapy issues stem from issues with control (ie. phobias, controlling others, being "a control freak," feeling controlled by others, uncontrolled thinking, uncontrolled behaviors, etc.). Being out-of-control is extremely uncomfortable, unpredictable, and unavoidable. In therapy we discuss different ways to relate to the concept of control by increasing psychological flexibility. Psychological flexibility is the ability to adapt to the inevitable uncertainties of life. With Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), I assist you in identifying your "stuck" points and making the necessary pivots towards living a life you love.

If you are feeling lost, powerless, or simply overwhelmed, I want to help you carve out a safe space where you can come and reflect on what is important to you and the person you want to be. Together, we can work on the tools, mindsets, and daily acts of care for yourself that foster a stronger sense of trust in yourself and ultimately a stronger sense of resilience. I am deeply inspired by our younger generations and their commitment to equity, authenticity, and self-determination. I work with youth ages 6-24 and - I love my job! Also please note that I conduct ADHD evaluations for youth ages 6-24 if you need that support as well!

There are no ideal clients, only degrees of willingness to grow, develop, and actualize. This can mean becoming the best version of yourself (even if you don't know what that is yet!), overcoming a current hurdle, or learning to navigate difficult emotional terrain. Having a vested interest in learning new ways of thinking and being will take you further down the road to a better You! Clients often feel ill prepared to make difficult choices, lack trust in themselves, or are completely overtaken by the burdens life has thrown at them. Deciding and manifesting the next chapter of your life is both a scary and wondrous adventure!

Hey Gen Z! I want to help you find your voice and empower you to be the best you can be. I draw heavily from Rogerian (person-centered) therapy, with the belief that clients deserve unconditional positive regard and empathy no matter what they bring into therapy. I also draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, and I use art and play therapy as well. I find passion in working with clients who have experienced trauma and want to find the tools to find their own voice and break out of negative cycles that have impacted their families. I wholeheartedly believe that everyone is a work in progress, and I would love to get to know you!

Online Therapists

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
