David D. Cotter, Ph.D. received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Western Michigan University. Dr. Cotter comes to Gershon Psychological Associates, LLC with a background in community mental health, psychological assessment, and residential care. He conducted comprehensive diagnostic assessments at the Behavioral and Developmental Pediatrics program at MSU/KCMS and his pre-doctoral internship training through the Nebraska Internship Consortium in Professional Psychology at Boys Town, NE. His interests include individual therapy, family therapy, parent-training, and psychological assessments.

My goal for treatment is to help clients develop or strengthen their skills needed to lead a good life. I have extensive experience working with hard-to-reach adolescents and adults, forging strong connections with them, and creating a supportive environment where they can explore and address difficult issues. I also have extensive experience working with college students and can assist with issues related to adaptation, career choice, dating, and relationships. I do not take insurance, but can provide you with statements so you can seek reimbursement up to what your insurance pays (which varies by insurance).

In sessions with children, I utilize play and art therapy to help express emotions stemming from adjustment issues, anxiety, family dynamic related issues, or traumatic experiences. He has worked in both the hospital and outpatient settings over the course of his career. He brings a passion to problem solve with his patients in order to alleviate symptoms that are negatively impacting their lives. He has extensive experience working with adolescents and adults, offering individual, family and couples counseling. His practice is affiliated with Lincoln Psychiatric Services, providing medication evaluations, if necessary.

Sean Carmichael earned his Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from William James College in Newton, MA. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Contemplative Psychology, with a focus in Transpersonal and Humanistic Psychology, from Naropa University, a Buddhist-inspired school in Boulder, CO. Sean provides individual, outpatient telehealth therapy and specializes in working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, relationship issues, grief and loss, and is especially interested in the impact of stigma and discrimination on members of minority groups.

Andrea Johnstone, Psy. D. is a clinical child psychologist who obtained her master's degree in Psychology from New York University and her doctorate in School-Clinical Child Psychology from Pace University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut, where she specialized in early childhood assessment and intervention, and served as a consultant for local Head Start classrooms.
