If you're into Xbox, you're in the right place. We've been living and breathing all things Xbox since 2001, and it's our duty to keep you informed with everything you need to know about Microsoft's range of world-beating game consoles.

Published by Hookshot, the team behind the massively popular Nintendo Life and Push Square – two of the biggest independent Nintendo and PlayStation-focused sites in the entire world – Pure Xbox is totally independent from Microsoft, which means you can always rely on us to give honest, unbiased opinions as we report on everything Xbox-related.

At Pure Xbox, you'll find everything from the hottest news and previews to the most painstakingly detailed reviews and features, all written by dedicated and passionate writers with decades of gaming experience between them.

History

Pure Xbox's origins can be traced back to the Kinect-focused site Kinectaku, launched by Hookshot Media in 2010. Initially aimed at covering all aspects of Microsoft's revolutionary controller-free interface, the choice was made to relaunch the site in 2013 in order to encompass the entire world of Xbox.

Edited by Ken Barnes and staffed by a core team of talented freelancers, Pure Xbox became Hookshot Media's third pillar, perfectly complementing its sister sites, Nintendo Life and Push Square. In 2016, the choice was made to hibernate the site until the arrival of the Xbox Series X and S, when it was relaunched with a new look and new staff, with Fraser Gilbert assuming the role of Editor and Ben Kerry later becoming a Staff Writer and Craig Reid as Video Producer.

In 2010, the company that owns Pure Xbox, Hookshot Media, was incorporated. In 2011, a commercial relationship was established with Gamer Network, the business behind sites such as Eurogamer, Rock Paper Shotgun, VG247 and Digital Foundry.

In 2024, Pure Xbox became a partner of IGN Entertainment after Gamer Network was acquired by Ziff Davis.
