Water Minister Atishi was rushed to the hospital early on Tuesday while she sat on a hunger strike. She has been fasting for four days to demand water for Delhi.
Ms. Atishi was admitted to the emergency ICU at the Lok Nayak Hospital, and her condition is stable now. She began her hunger strike on June 21.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said the minister ended her indefinite fast after she was hospitalised.
The senior AAP leader was admitted to LNJP hospital around 3:45am, Mr. Singh said.
Appeal to Modi
He said all MPs of the party would write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking that Delhi be provided with its rightful share of water by Haryana. The issue will also be raised by the AAP and its political allies in Parliament, he added.
Wishing her good health, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said that she should stop misleading the public
“We’ve been saying since June 21 that what you are doing is not Satyagraha because you have no connection with truth, Ms. Atishi, he said.
“The essence of Satyagraha is to fight for the truth. Mahatma Gandhi, Lala Lajpat Rai, Vinoba Bhave, and Anna Hazare all fasted to reveal the truth, not to hide their administrative failures, as Ms. Atishi intended to do.”
A post on ‘X’ by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official handle said the people of the city “will definitely reply to the injustice that the BJP government is doing” to the national capital. The post was made by his team.
