We’ve got big news to share.     We are incredibly pleased to announce Toyota Tsusho Africa (TTAF), a subsidiary of Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Ogihara (Thailand) Corporation and Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) have launched a joint venture in South Africa to boost local automotive parts and manufacturing.     The announcement was made this week at the construction site of the future plant at Dube Trade Port in Durban. The new partnership is poised to significantly add to local manufacturing with the production of small to medium stamped parts for TSAM. Production is set to commence in July 2025 with an investment injection of over R1.1 billion into the production of essential manufacturing components. This strategic partnership will not only raise TSAM’s local procurement ratio by 2%, translating to an estimated R700 million in annual spend, but will also drive significant job creation, with 250 new jobs expected by 2026.    This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to localisation and underscores the possibilities for growth and development in the KZN province.    The future looks bright and we are continuing to do our part in leading the way towards an even stronger South Africa. 🎯 Make Autos Attractive - Supporting Supplier Development in the Automotive Sector This morning I had some big shoes to fill, in facilitating a conversation with a leading Black Industrialist, during our naamsa | The Automotive Business Council Make Autos Attractive Masterclass in honour of Brand Pretorius. It was a great discussion with Andre Swaartbooi from Acoustex (Pty) Ltd. He shared his journey in supporting the growth of a world class South African Tier 1 company and helped us "debunk" some common misconceptions about localisation and supplying into OEM value chains. We also had some incredible insights from Meghan King of BMA, showcasing the extensive value derived from industrial clustering and developing an ecosystem of support for emerging industrialists. Andre Swartbooi My sincerest thanks for joining us and sharing invaluable insights. I think you can tell I enjoyed our conversation 😅 Shoutout to our esteemed Programme Director Tshetlhe Litheko for steering a meaningful conversation. We still have one more Masterclass in the series, and I hope to catch you all there. #ForTheLoveOfAutos Mikel MABASA

Our market-led methodology supports growth, as manufacturers are supported to supply into the markets that need them. Here is a testimonial Mr Price Home who participated in the @EFC Accelerator Programme: "The most exciting thing about today was the level of presentations. This event has really stepped up its game, and it has been incredible to see the talent and passion out there. It's wonderful to see so many young people with a passion for manufacturing, especially given how challenging this industry can be. I have so much respect for those who put themselves out there, and the bravery it takes to manufacture in this country is truly commendable. I'm excited to get in touch with some of these businesses.“ Lucy Mullins, Resource Director at Mr Price Home

Building a Localisation Roadmap for Retailers Many clothing retailers recognise the commercial value of shortening lead times by sourcing products locally. However, increasing local sourcing isn't simple—it requires a clear strategy. Our VCX team has developed a structured approach that’s helped several retailers create a multi-year localisation roadmap, which enables retailers to plan local sourcing in terms of product, volume and timing, identify obstacles, and provide enough demand visibility to encourage suppliers to invest in the necessary capacity, machinery and skills to meet the retailer’s need. #LocalSourcing #RetailStrategy #CapacityBuilding
