    STILL TIME TO APPLY: Animal Rescue Organisation is a unique organisation. And this role is pretty special too. As an APO Vet, you will be part of a passionate team improving access to care for pets for pets in disadvantaged communities.  ARO is not a pet shelter but is a welfare veterinary hospital service concentrating on a number of important areas of work including sterilisation and primary health care. ARO Mobile Clinics are run by registered and experienced AWA’s (Animal Welfare Assistants) which are sent out into extremely poor and indigent communities and informal settlements including, but not limited to, Guguletu, Nyanga, Delft, Browns Farm and similar areas within the wider Cape Metropole. The main purpose of this role is to medically and surgically assess and treat animals presented at ARO premises and mobile and static clinics. You’ll combine your knowledge of animal physiology, nutrition, and medicine with practical surgical skills to diagnose illnesses and injuries, prescribe medicines, manage anaesthesia and radiography, and perform required surgery.  Registered with the SAVC, you’ll have two years of post-graduate veterinary experience and general surgery experience. You’ll have experience in working with small animals, and using X-rays, as well as a strong background in animal welfare services. You’ll be robust, flexible and committed to being part of a team that is driven by making a passion to save animals lives and end cruelty.
