The EDSA Prestige Awards took place at the Madiba Arena- South Campus on 12 October 2024. The awards aim to recognise excellence among UFS students in different areas. It was a joy for us to share in the celebration of our students- particularly CUADS students who demonstrated excellence both in their academics and their chosen co-curricular activities. The images depict: Mamanci Ukhanyo Buti- CUADS Student from South Campus with a mobility impairment who received the award for Best Performing CUADS First Year student. Sisipho Mbiyo, a CUADS student from Bloemfontein Campus with a hearing impairment who received the Breaking Barriers Award, together with Motsusi Nare a CUADS student with a visual impairment from Qwa-Qwa campus who also received the Breaking Barriers Award on the evening. CUADS students with mobility impairments had a bonding session on the 3rd of October 2024 at Outeniqua Gazellie. The students relaxed with a game of 30 seconds and shared snacks and some fun laughs! The initiative was led by Bibi-Aisha Essop who is the cohort’s student representative and the Vice-Chairperson of the CUADS Student Council.
