The Institute for Microbial Biotechnology & Metagenomics (IMBM) at the University of the Western Cape, just concluded the 2024 edition of their annual flow cytometry workshop. Here, 20+ participants learnt about the theory behind flow cytometry before 6 of them received hands-on training on the BD FACS Aria. A huge thank you to Rozanne Adams, PhD from Becton Dickenson and Katlego Matsha from Obsidian Health for presenting the course and to the participants for making it a fun week. DIPLOMICS (Distributed Platform in Omics) is proud to sponsor these types of workshops which help to ensure quality training for South African researchers in omic technologies. Well done to the whole IMBM team for another inspiring workshop! The DIPLOMICS team is attending the African BioGenome Project Southern Africa Regional Workshop, currently underway at the Agricultural Research Council, Pretoria. This workshop is a key event for AfricaBP scientists, focusing on the genomes of animal species sequenced locally in Africa as part of the AfricaBP initiative. Yesterday was filled with insightful sessions, and today, we're proud that our own Dr Shane Murray will be presenting on the work DIPLOMICS is doing, including a deep dive into the 1KSA programme. These discussions are critical for advancing genomics research on the African continent. #AfricaBP #Genomics #1KSA #DIPLOMICS #ScienceInAfrica
