We offer accessible, affordable and rich benefits for qualifying public service employees and their beneficiaries and strive, as much as possible, to keep the cost of medical aid low. GEMS offers 25% less contributions for the same benefits in the industry. This simply means that the cost you pay for your medical aid is, on average, 25% cheaper than the industry. On our #GoodRecap this week we have the Minister for Public Service and Administration, Inkosi Mzamo Buthelezi saying, “GEMS is the only medical aid that is designed from an African perspective, allowing access to your extended family.” This is testament to GEMS being there for every public service employee and their family when needed most. #GoodNews #WhatAGem #WeAreGEMS

GEMS is proud to have participated in the South African Renal Care Congress 2024, which took place from 18-20 October 2024 at the Indaba Hotel and Conference Centre in Johannesburg. The congress theme was “Artificial Intelligence in Nephrology.” Significant progress in AI in the past few years offers the opportunity to radically reimagine current clinical practice to improve the diagnosis and management of kidney disease, and the conference explored that. Our provider liaison team was on hand to assist the GEMS providers with all provider-related enquiries.

GEMS is proud to partner with the Comrades Marathon Association to host the ‘GEMS Spirit of Comrades Awards’ again this year. This event recognises the commitment, discipline, dedication, persistence, camaraderie, determination, and willpower to overcome obstacles illustrated in preparing for and partaking in the Comrades Marathon. “We are all aware of the increasing problem of non-communicable diseases, which are largely attributed to unhealthy lifestyles and eating habits. In many ways our partnership is a natural fit because we share the same objective of promoting healthy living through fitness. In our member engagements, as well as amongst our staff, we continue to emphasise the importance of wellness. We are committed to helping our members, and indeed the wider society reach their peak health and fitness levels.” said Dr Vuyo Gqola, GEMS’ Chief Operations Officer at the award ceremony in Durban. #gemscomradesawards2024
