On this Women's Day, we are delighted to highlight Ethel Kock, a longstanding and dedicated member of our Pick n Pay family. Ethel has been with Pick n Pay since August 1988, making her a cornerstone of our team with over 35 years of experience in the retail industry. Ethel serves as a Buyer’s Assistant, playing a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations across various functions. Her responsibilities include: ● Maintaining accurate administration to prevent stock ordering and selling issues. ● Supporting Franchisees in multiple formats and events. ● Assisting in commercial finance, administration, promotions, and margin management. ● Ensuring timely completion of Article Master Data and Vendor Master Data Administration. ● Resolving queries efficiently via email, call logging systems, and phone calls. Ethel finds motivation in leading, overcoming challenges, and developing new skills. Her positive attitude and collaborative spirit contribute significantly to the team's success. She thrives on working with others and constantly seeks opportunities to contribute to the team's achievements. In her personal time, Ethel takes pride in sharing her daughter Mckayla's netball career. Mckayla has been playing netball since she was 12 and is now competing at a national level. She will be playing in Dubai later this year, with aspirations to join the South African Netball Protea National Team. Ethel's support and encouragement have been instrumental in Mckayla's success. In honour of Women's Day, we are excited to spotlight Anita Van Rensburg, the National Food Specialist at Pick n Pay, and part of a team of experts working on an exciting new project with Pick n Pay. Anita is on a mission to redefine the food experience in convenience stores, making it healthier, fresher, and more innovative. With a passion for food that's deeply rooted in her DNA, she is transforming the way our customers fuel their bodies and enrich their shopping experience. Anita leads the charge in revolutionising the perception of food within convenience stores. Her vision is to create a space where fresh, locally-sourced, and sustainable food options are the norm, setting new standards for convenience stores across the industry. Anita's journey with Pick n Pay began in September 2023 as a Creative Culinary Consultant. Her dedication and innovative spirit earned her a permanent role in January 2024, where she continues to bring a fresh perspective to our stores. Anita's motivation stems from her childhood memories of Pick n Pay as a place of comfort and familiarity. She believes in bringing back that "old school" charm, where customers feel at home. Anita's team shares her passion for retail, and together, they work to transform every visit to Pick n Pay into a delightful experience. Anita's love for food extends beyond her professional life. Cooking for friends and family, and even showcasing her skills on TV, keeps her creativity and passion alive. Anita advises aspiring women in retail to start from the ground up, embracing the hands-on experience that the industry demands. We recently had an exciting three-day food photoshoot for our new PnP Convenience Stores range. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the fresh and delicious offerings our customers can look forward to! After the photoshoot, we had a lot of leftover food. Instead of letting it go to waste, our wonderful Fresh Food Specialist, Anita Van Rensburg, took the initiative to donate the food to House Jabes, a safe house that supports seven women and children. Anita handed over the food on two occasions, and it was gratefully appreciated by the residents. We are incredibly proud of the team and the dedication to making a difference in our community.
