  • This Women’s Month, Redpath Mining South Africa is honoured to continue our #ShareYourSpark campaign, where we celebrate the remarkable women within our organisation by sharing their stories, passions and inspirations. Today, we share a touching response from Desire Timm (Payroll Manager), who reflects on the profound impact her late mother had on her life. “I learnt the greatest values from the woman in my family – my amazing sisters, my daughter, aunts, cousins, niece, and grandparents. But there is no comparison to the most significant inspiration of all, being my late mom. She taught me to laugh and find humour even in the darkest of times. She taught me to love unconditionally and care selflessly for Everyone and to be responsible for Anyone, animals, children, elderly, family, friends, and strangers alike. She taught me to question things and get excited about the possibilities that could exist within the mysteries of life. She taught me to be humble and to believe in miracles. She was my miracle and influence my thoughts and actions every day. I aspire to pass some part of her onto others so that they can experience miracles of their own and see the world through her eyes.”

  • This Women’s Month, Redpath Mining South Africa is thrilled to continue our #ShareYourSpark campaign, a tribute to the incredible women within our organisation. By sharing their stories, passions, and inspirations, we aim to spotlight the diverse ways in which these women are making a meaningful impact in their professions, communities, and beyond. Today, we are excited to share an inspiring response from Dikeledi Baloyi (Group Inventory Controller), who reflects on the transformative power of education and the profound influence of love. “Education: Education has the power to change lives and transform communities. It’s not just about acquiring knowledge; it’s about opening doors to opportunities, breaking cycles of poverty, and fostering a brighter, more inclusive future. Love: My love for my grandfather has always been a source of inspiration and strength, creating a positive ripple effect in my life and those around me. Growing up, he was my hero, teaching me kindness, hard work, and perseverance. His influence extended beyond our family; he was a community pillar, always ready to help. Inspired by his legacy, I became involved in community service, striving to make a difference just as he did. Whether volunteering, mentoring, or organizing events, I aim to spread the values he instilled in me. The positive changes I've witnessed in my community and within myself are a testament to his lasting impact. Through my efforts, I hope to honour his memory and ensure his spirit of generosity and compassion lives on.”

  • This Women’s Month, Redpath Mining South Africa proudly continues our #ShareYourSpark campaign, where we celebrate the incredible women within our organisation by sharing their stories, passions, and inspirations. These narratives highlight the unique ways in which Redpath’s women are making a positive impact in their communities and beyond. Today, we are excited to share the inspiring story of Mariaan Scheepers (Project Coordinator), who, alongside her friend, Thea Smit, is deeply passionate about animal protection. Mariaan recently spent time at the Woodrock CatCafe, a haven for rescued cats where visitors, especially children, can interact with these feline friends in a joyful and supportive environment. While at the CatCafe, Mariaan was moved by the presence of 12 rescue cats from Virginia, her hometown, who now reside at the café. The experience not only reinforced her love for animals but also sparked a dream shared with Thea to start a similar initiative in the George-Mossel Bay area. Although this dream is still in its early stages, with Thea’s husband actively searching for a suitable location, Mariaan’s passion for animal welfare continues to drive her vision. Inspired by the positive impact that places like the Woodrock CatCafe have on communities, Mariaan is committed to creating a space where both people and animals can thrive. Through her dedication to this cause, she hopes to leave a lasting legacy of compassion and care for animals in her community.

  • This Women’s Month, Redpath Mining South Africa is proud to launch its #ShareYourSpark campaign. This initiative is all about celebrating the incredible women within our organisation by sharing their stories, passions and inspirations. Through their voices, we aim to highlight the diverse ways in which Redpath’s women are making a difference in their professions, communities and beyond. Today, we’re sharing a heartfelt response from NTHABISENG SETIKO TT (SA) (Payroll Administrator), who reflects on the wisdom passed down from her grandmothers and mothers and how it has shaped her journey. “In the narrative of our lives, the threads woven by our grandmothers and mothers hold a significant and cherished place. These threads, enriched with love, wisdom, and stories, linger in our hearts, guiding us through our journey. The invaluable wisdom of our elders not only provides comfort but also inspires us to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and grace. As a young lady, I was fortunate to have a woman see potential in me and empower me to join the tax industry. Today, I proudly stand as a woman in the tax profession. This journey has been deeply influenced by the empowering spirit of the women who came before me, whose strength and determination continue to inspire my path.”

  • On Mandela Day, 18 July, Redpath demonstrated its commitment to making a positive impact in our communities through two meaningful initiatives. Ten staff members from Redpath’s Head Office in Johannesburg supported the Aruka Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing care, support and resources to vulnerable individuals and children. Our team distributed meals to the underprivileged and spent quality time with the children at the foundation’s crèche, which cares for approximately 80 children, providing them with meals and early education. In addition, Redpath made a monetary contribution to aid the Aruka Foundation's mission of offering essential services to those in need. Simultaneously, staff from Redpath’s Northam Platinum Zondereinde operations visited the Thabang Child and Youth Care Centre in Thabazimbi. This visit is part of Redpath’s ongoing support for Thabang, having contributed to the centre on several occasions over the years. Our team participated in a potjiekos competition hosted by Thabang and sponsored much-needed LED lights for the care centre. Thabang provides residential care, daily meals, academic support and extra-mural activities for children in Thabazimbi and surrounding areas, focusing on their growth and development. Redpath is proud to support these organisations and contribute to their efforts in creating brighter futures for the children in our communities. #MandelaDay #CommunitySupport #MakingADifference #ItsInYourHands

Earlier this year, our Redpath Thonket team achieved a significant milestone when they completed the surface ventilation raise at AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi mine in Ghana. At a depth of 941 metres and a diameter of 6.5 m, the Kwesi Mensa Ventilation Shaft (KMVS) is the world’s largest raisebore hole. The KMVS provides ventilation to the Kwesi Mensa Shaft infrastructure, a vital part of the Obuasi mine’s redevelopment. This remarkable achievement was completed with Redpath’s very own Redbore 90EX machine, proudly designed and built by our Redpath Raiseboring team in North Bay, Canada. Have a look at this video capturing the highlights of the achievement! • Redpath Mining Contractors Limited proudly exhibited at this year's CAMINEX, Zambia's Premier Copperbelt Mining, Agricultural & Industrial Trade Expo! Held between 28 and 30 May at the Kitwe Showgrounds, CAMINEX 2024 brought together thousands of industry leaders, business decision-makers, and professionals from across Africa. This year’s theme, ‘Unlocking Opportunities for Growth: Zambia's Land-Linked Position’, set the stage for impactful networking, idea exchange, and partnership development. Exhibitors ranged from equipment suppliers and engineering consulting firms to various Zambian government bodies, including the Zambian Ministry of Commerce Trade & Industry and the Zambian Ministry of Mines & Minerals Development. Our team had an impressive array of mining equipment on display, including a Sandvik DD321 drill, an EJC dump truck, and an AARD Utility Vehicle (UV100). We were thrilled to engage with delegates, share our expertise, and explore new opportunities for collaboration. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated Redpath team members who manned the exhibition stand: Eldie Nortier (Contracts Manager), Michelle Jonker (Marketing and Executive Support Manager), John Pilula (Operations Superintendent), Knight Kabaso (Project Financial Controller), Vigilant Shakumbila (SHEQT Manager), and Edgar Shabusale (HR Manager). Their hard work and enthusiasm were instrumental in ensuring our successful presence at the expo. #CAMINEX2024 #MiningInnovation #Copperbelt #Zambia
