Exciting news! The Atlantis Special Economic Zone has partnered with Hydrogen Energy Applications (HYENA) in signing an MOU to drive hydrogen-powered energy solutions in Cape Town! This collaboration will see ASEZCo piloting HYENA’s hydrogen-fueled POWER POD at its Zone 1 guardhouse in Atlantis. The pilot will demonstrate clean, off-grid power as a sustainable alternative to diesel, reinforcing ASEZCo’s commitment to green technology and eco-friendly industrial practices in South Africa. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has indicated optimism that South Africa’s public finances will recover and that the National Treasury will manage to tame public debt on the back of fiscal consolidation.

In a move to combat poverty and malnutrition, the Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform (DRDAR) has launched a R80m cropping programme to help promote sustainable agricultural development and food security. The programme was launched at the Ngxakaxha village under the Mbhashe Local Municipality, an area that once faced high poverty levels. Through the programme, 22,564 hectares will be planted, benefiting 10,953 communal and emerging farmers.
