The sun shone mercilessly on the crowd that gathered at the Wonderboom National Airport on Saturday 26 October 2024, but it did not dampen their spirits and excitement. In fact, it was so popular that the tickets were sold out! For many in the crowd it was the first time they attended an airshow, but listening to their comments and witnessing their expressions and cheers, it is unlikely to be their last, even though it was the last airshow on the South African calendar for 2024. The crowd were spoiled for choice as they watched the aerobatic displays showcased by many of South Africa's best #pilots including Andrew Blackwood-Murray, the Goodyear Eagles - Aerobatics Unlimited, Nigel Hopkins Aerobatics, Jason Beamish and the infamous Juba Joubert in a Gazelle. A crowd-pleaser and highlight for many were being able to watch, twice on the same day, how a South African Air Force pilot manoeuvred the #Gripen! There is no doubt that this #airshow brought together the best of #southafricanpilots. It left the crowd in awe and filled us with respect and admiration to see such skill and expertise. Kitty Hawk Aerodome’s website makes a powerful statement namely “Discover freedom. Fly. Every day.” It might not always be 100% practical, but pilots have the freedom to fly as much as they can. And when an opportunity arises, they love joining their co-pilots at breakfast fly-in events such as the annual RV breakfast fly-in that was hosted at Kitty Hawk, east of Pretoria on Saturday 7 September. Although the “RVs” stood their ground at the event, they were flanked with other “family members” including a few choppers and gyro-copters, to keep the “aircraft balance” and confirm that the love of flying is the most important entry ticket needed to attend fly-in events. Vektor Aviation wants to congratulate Dawie Pretorius and his team at Kitty Hawk Aerodome for hosting yet another well-organised fly-in. It is the first Saturday of September 2024. With no clouds in the sky and the sun in our eyes, the slight chill in the spring air did not deter #aviators from around Gauteng to get to Kitty Hawk Aerodrome for an #RV breakfast fly-in. It was a very early morning for the Vektor Aviation team as we departed from Pretoria to arrive in time at New Tempe Airfield, Bloemfontein for The Children's Flight 2024. Felix Gosher and his wife Belinda, the power couple behind this success story, along with their team of volunteers, again left no stone unturned to ensure that hundreds of children could experience the love, joy and fun of this year’s The Children's Flight. Having moved to Bloemfontein this year, children from the Free State were treated like VIPs thanks to the wonderful sponsors who keep on giving back to the community. Many of these children experienced the thrill of flying in either a helicopter or an airplane for the first time ever today – and there is no doubt in our minds that irrespective of whether they felt scared or excited beforehand, it will be an experience that they will never forget. One of Vektor Aviation’s clients, Jan Botma was among the many generous aviation sponsors who made at least 50 children’s dreams come true by giving them an opportunity to fly in Aviators' chopper ZSPCF.
