This March, we're celebrating some of the inspiring women who work within the Dot Group, and today we're featuring the talented Jana Flanagan, FCA, our Investor Relations and Communications Director. "Originally I am from Dublin, Ireland where I qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG. I love to travel, experience new cultures with a bit of adventure thrown in along the way. After back packing in South America and New Zealand, I landed in Sydney, Australia where I spent 15 years working across finance and investor relations in ASX100 listed organisations. I am currently based in Dubai with my husband and 9 year old daughter, and I have worked at The Dot Group for the past 6 years. In my role I lead Corporate Communications and Investor Relations for the group.   There are so many women I've been inspired by! I would have to say my mum continues to be my biggest inspiration. I definitely inherited her work ethic and drive to see the world. I also admire any female entrepreneurs who have a vision and make it happen. Growing up in Ireland, a standout for me was Mary Robinson, an Irish politician, lawyer, and human rights advocate who made history as Ireland’s first female President and later served as United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.    As a working parent, in my experience it’s quality over quantity in all aspects of how we go about our day to day. Exercise is key, as well as being present at home when you can, even if you only have 10 minutes for a quick chat between calls, be in the conversation with your children, look at what they did at school, ask questions, make the time you have count. … AND always have the next family trip planned to keep you sane!" Day two at MIPIM and it was a pleasure to welcome Jennie Gow yesterday as guest speaker at our Women in Real Estate breakfast. Jennie has excelled in her career as a journalist and broadcaster in Formula One, best known for being part of the Netflix smash hit series Drive to Survive. During her 15+ years in the pit lane, Jennie has seen the male dominated industry of motorsport evolve and attract more women, something that’s been mirrored across the world of real estate and the broader living sector. Yesterday we celebrated our new partnership with the Visa Cash App RB F1 Team and hosted an intimate industry event, where we were joined by former Formula One racing driver Mark Blundell. Mark spoke to guests about his career both on and off the track, where perseverance, resilience and determination have been integral to his success. We’re looking forward to day two! We're continuing our celebration of the amazing women who work within the Dot Group this Women's History Month with the incredible Chantal Rickards OBE. "I sit as a Non-Executive Director on the Advisory Board of The Dot Group, having started in a similar role for Yugo in 2020 before it launched. I worked closely with Nick Porter and the senior Yugo team to help bring the Yugo story to life, creating its pillars: YuPro, YuGrow and Yugo Eco. My background is in storytelling, specifically in television; I joined the UK's largest commercial channel, ITV, at the start of my media career, later crossing to run the Food Network and then on to the BBC for five years. My TV credits include popular shows like Masterchef, This Morning, Through the Keyhole and Countdown. I spent seven years at WPP, the world's largest advertising and marketing group, helping brands tell their stories. My last full-time role was as the CEO of BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and TV in Los Angeles, returning to the UK in late 2019. My mother was the person I always wanted to be; she was a mother of six children who went to university in the 1930s when only 25% 0f students were women. She would walk eight miles a day to her campus, and after graduating went on to have a career as a Medical Social Worker, helping to look after other people's families. Quite simply, she rocked. When I went to university there had never been a woman prime minister in the UK and by the time I left we had Margaret Thatcher. Although her politics weren't for everyone, she made me realise that women really could have an opinion and a career and make it through the glass ceiling. Polish/French physicist Marie Curie remains an icon for me. Without her pioneering use of radioactivity in medical treatment, cancer research would still be in the Dark Ages. She once said 'be less curious about people and more curious about ideas' - a phrase we would do well to remember today. Advice: Be brave. Never assume you can't do something, always assume you can. Never say BUT, when the word AND would be better. Always listen to others and take ideas on board from everywhere; if you are seeking a senior role, most particularly at Board level, ensure you always know when to be decisive. Don't dither!"

In celebration of women's history month, we'll be celebrating some of the amazing women who work for The Dot Group this month, starting with the talented Hanna Roojee, BA ACA from our finance team: "I’m Hanna, an ICAEW-trained Chartered Accountant based in Dubai, and a member of the Dot Finance Team. My role is project-based, encompassing areas like due diligence, compliance, and some operational accounting responsibilities. I’m also a proud mum to a little bundle of joy who will soon turn one! After returning from a 5-month maternity leave, I’ve been focused on balancing my parenting duties with my professional life. I’m incredibly grateful to Dot for offering a flexible working environment that allows me to pursue both of my passions. I’m excited for the future and the opportunities that lie ahead. As we celebrate Women's History Month, one of the inspiring woman at Dot who I deeply admire is Emma Bleaney. Having been with Dot for over 20 years, it’s incredibly inspiring to see how Emma has successfully balanced her professional responsibilities with her personal interests, all while being a mum of two from an early stage."
