This achievement represents nearly a century of relentless effort by the Egyptian government and its people to eliminate malaria—a disease that has plagued the country for thousands of years. Key to this success was Egypt’s universal, free-of-charge malaria diagnosis and treatment system, training healthcare professionals nationwide, and maintaining strong partnerships with neighboring countries like Sudan to prevent the return of local transmission.
