From 5-9 August at the YSU Tsakhadzor student guesthouse took place the 5th jubilee edition of Physics & We summer camp. During the 5 days-long camp thanks to teamwork the participants designed, assembled, and digitized a spectrometer that is able to distinguish various liquids; measure and visualize the concentration of different compounds in the mixed solution through data processing and training algorithms. The camp offered an educational program to prepare next-generation researchers and engineers. The camp was full of memorable and fun moments: games, movies, and of course the Olympic games where Armenian athletes were competing for medals. The second week of the “Science is Fun! See, Touch, Try” summer camp in Byurakan. With a lot of new kids joining in, from July 4 to 5 we introduced all kinds of cool ideas and fun ways to explore optics. This week, children went deeper into the world of physics, not just reading about it but actually trying things out. They played with light, made simple telescopes, and saw the magic of light. Each activity was a chance to show them just how amazing physics can be and to get them excited about the world around them. SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics Optica

The academic year is over, but we are still fully into the outreach programs. The three-week-long "Science is Fun! See, Touch, Try" summer camp at Byurakan Observatory initiated by the YSU Center for Continuing Education every week will welcome 20 different pupils from all the corners of Armenia and Artsakh to become a step closer to science. We are happy to be part of it and demonstrate the beauty of physics and share knowledge with them. Our first week at the summer camp "Science is Fun! See, Touch, Try" was fantastic! We had a great time with the kids in Byurakan, running four exciting sessions of physics experiments. We showed them how amazing physics can be by making a camera obscura themselves to testing a plasma globe, it was all about hands-on learning and fun. For the second year in a row, from 3rd June within the framework of the "Science is fun! See, touch, try" summer workshop at Yerevan State University members of the YSO Student Chapter have shown physics to middle and high school students from the different perspective. During four sessions at the three-week-long summer workshop, we explained to children the fundamental principles of physical phenomena through the prism of experimental demonstrations. Participants engaged in hands-on experimental tasks on their own and with the help of our members succeeded. The participants were enthusiastic about transmitting encoded information through an optical fiber, developing concepts for a Galilei telescope, Obscura camera, and spectrometer, observing laser polarization change and 3D holograms, and characterizing the wavelength of different lasers. Thanks to the YSU Center for Continuing Education for providing us with another opportunity to collaborate with young students. We hope, that our efforts to spread science in our country will pay off and we will have more students interested in physics and engineering.
