Oveja & Remi x Castenschiold Spirits x Mother Ocean Introducing Marum, a rum aged beneath the waves off the coast of Sylt Island, Germany, by the family-owned Castenschiold Spirits. Limited to just 50 bottles a year, this ocean-aged spirit called for a packaging design that could match its rarity and natural allure. We worked together to craft a visual story that reflects the rum’s journey, the distillery’s humble origins, and, most importantly, its exclusivity. The result? Last week was one to remember as we were privileged to attend Make a Mark™ 2024, organized by Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials, LEONHARD KURZ, and ESTAL, in our hometown of Mendoza, Argentina. The event brought together over 250 participants, including designers, wineries, printers, and other industry leaders. Together, we discussed processes, trends, and celebrated the thriving state of the LATAM creative community. Of course, this wouldn’t have been possible without the usual suspects: Natalia Carro and Sergio Castellanos Valverde, as well as our peers Diego Giaccone and Ximena Ureta. Meet "Gran Olvidado" or "The Forgotten Great" for our non-Spanish-speaking friends. When our client and studio friend Fernando Ravera told us about a terrific new Red Blend he wanted to launch, little did we know this would be one of those projects that would "flow effortlessly from the mind." In typical fashion of the Argentinian winemaker, we soon learned that this "new" blend was not new at all—just something Fernando had forgotten about. "We must forget to create," he said in an almost regal and confident tone. "You’d lose your head if it wasn’t attached to your shoulders," we retorted, followed by the clink of our glasses and a burst of laughter. And just like that, a concept was born. Illustrated in a pen-and-ink style with dark and mysterious tones, "Gran Olvidado" opens the imagination to endless stories—some real, some made up, and others embellished over time.
