𝑬𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒕 𝑼𝑺 𝑷𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒔 🚧 We would like to inform you that US dock workers and port operators have reached a deal that will immediately end a crippling three-day strike that has shut down shipping on the US East Coast and Gulf Coast. Dockworkers are expected to return to work as early as today.   The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) has agreed to a deal to suspend strike activity until January 15, 2025. It is expected that this extension will provide an opportunity to negotiate and ratify a new, sustainable agreement without further disruptions. At this time, at least 50 container ships have been recorded as being anchored at offshore locations, unable to berth at any of the three dozen ports affected by the ILA strike. The conference with the subtitle "Artificial Intelligence recharges the world of logistics. To what extent will this revolution mean the threat for jobs?" was hosted by the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic in Senec, Slovakia. The event brought together dozens of professionals from the fields of logistics, handling technology, warehousing, transport, construction, development, energy and information technology. cargo-partner was represented by our very own Tibor Majzun, Regional Director NEE, who was also one of the panelists. The conference was divided by the organizer, the weekly newspaper TREND, into six discussion blocks, in which experts discussed not only the impact of automation, digitization, robotics and artificial intelligence, but also looked for solutions on how to increase efficiency while taking into account people, i.e. preserving jobs.
