On Wednesday, the #CCIEurope Policy team, along with Anna Apel, PhD (CEO of the CCI Europe Member Fundacja Na Ratunek Dzieciom z Chorobą Nowotworową), met with the Chair of SANT Committee (Health) of the European Parliament, MEP Adam Jarubas (Poland, EPP). What did we talk about? 🪙Sustained Funding – We advocated for continued support in the Multiannual Financial Framework (2028-2034) to ensure Horizon Europe & EU4Health keep funding critical research & healthcare, namely to keep investing on the unmet needs of #childrenwithcancer. 🔬Access to #CrossBorder Research & Care – We highlighted challenges families face when seeking #clinicaltrials and specialised care across the EU. 🏡Support for Families – We stressed the need for public funding to cover travel and other costs so no child is left behind due to where they live This was a crucial step forward—thank you to everyone involved! 💛 Together, let’s keep #childhoodcancer on the European agenda.

🇺🇦 The parents in Ukraine talk about what the #SAFERUkraine Initiate truly means to them... 🎗️"We are just a tiny drop in the ocean of the good that you have done for our children, families, Ukraine. At a time when we were already "on the battlefield", with an insidious disease that "stole" our children, the enemy of Ukraine threw a cruel challenge to all the children of our native country - Ukraine. You became the first to lend a helping hand for all of us, and separately for each family. May the Lord repay a hundredfold to each of you, your families, your people!! We are incredibly happy to be a part of your sincere effort." - Liudmyla Y., Parent 📰 Read the News Release at:https://ow.ly/GH1c50VcREP 📂 Find the full report at: https://ow.ly/MeLY50VcREN 💛 Donate to the Ukrainian Childhood Cancer Fund at: https://ow.ly/5lBZ50VcREQ #SAFERUkraine #Childhoodcancer #CCIEurope #ChildrenInUkraine #Ukrainewar

🇺🇦 It's been 3 years. The war in Ukraine has not yet ended, and therefore neither has the work of SAFER Ukraine. Because the children with cancer in Ukraine still need us and you! 🙏 "I would like to sincerely thank the entire SAFER Ukraine team for their selfless and huge work in saving children's lives. When you hear the diagnosis of cancer, you seem to fall into complete darkness, hopelessness, pain and emotional emptiness. These people not only supported us, extended a helping hand for my daughter and our family, but also gave a spark of hope, surrounded us with their warmth, understanding, patience and boundless kindness and firm faith in the victory over cancer of every little patient" - Iryna K., Parent 🎗️ 📰 Read the News Release at:https://ow.ly/MnyQ50VcREO 📂 Find the full report at: https://ow.ly/jmN550VcREK 💛 Donate to the Ukrainian Childhood Cancer Fund at: https://ow.ly/WJNQ50VcREL #SAFERUkraine #Childhoodcancer #CCIEurope #ChildrenInUkraine #Ukrainewar

🎯On Monday, we took a big step in ensuring greater support for #childhoodcancer and #rarediseaseadvocacy within and beyond the European Parliament! The #CCIEurope policy team and the leader of the European Affairs Pillar, Delphine Heenen had the honor of attending the launch event of the Intergroup on Cancer & Rare Diseases at the European Parliament. 🇪🇺 This newly created Intergroup (2024-2029 legislature) unites MEPs committed to advancing policies on cancer and #rarediseases, with a strong focus on #childhoodcancer. The group is chaired by MEP Vlad Voiculescu (Renew, Romania), alongside Vice-Chairs MEP Stine Bosse (Renew, Denmark), MEP Tilly Metz (Greens/EFA, Luxembourg), MEP ALESSANDRA MORETTI (S&D, Italy), and MEP Tomislav Sokol (EPP, Croatia). ✨The launch event, held in the exclusive MEP Salon, brought together key representatives from the European Commission, Council of the European Union, and other key stakeholders, all working towards stronger collaboration in this crucial field. 🎗️#ChildhoodCancer is, by definition, a #RareDisease. But just because it is rare, it shouldn't be overlooked. Because childhood cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease among children. 🔎Every year, 35,000 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer. But having a rare disease often means fewer treatment options, less research, and limited support. ✨This #RareDiseaseDay, stand with us to change that. Help us advocate for treating more and better, because every child with cancer deserves the best care. #childhoodcanceradvocacy #PatientAdvocacy EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe SIOP Europe, the European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOPE)

🎗️We shouldn't let geographical barriers determine a child's with cancer access to #innovativetreatments and #clinicaltrials. This was the key message at the #ICCD2025 Policy Event that took place on February 4, 2025 at the European Parliament, kindly hosted by MEP Andras Kulja MD. As the Chair of #CCIEurope Committee said: "We need to break down barriers to hope and progress for children and their families". ➡️Read the news release to catch up on the day's events at: https://ow.ly/7ik250V6UJA 🎥Watch the recording at: https://ow.ly/5jhc50V6ULu #childhoodcancer #childhoodcanceradvocacy SIOP Europe, the European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOPE)
