Meet Chinsini, a childhood cancer survivor from Malawi. 💛 Through our Learn, Heal, Thrive campaign, we’re highlighting the transformative role education plays in the lives of children undergoing cancer treatment—empowering them to dream beyond their diagnosis. 📚 Thanks to Amgen's transformative collaboration, which supports holistic childhood cancer care—including reintegration into school and community life—children are thriving beyond their treatment. Here, Chinsini, a recipient of the scholarship programme supported by Amgen, shares her journey of recovery and how life after treatment has opened new doors. Returning to the classroom fills her with joy, and the compassionate care she received has ignited a new dream: to become a surgeon and help others facing the same diagnosis. 🔬 🎥 Watch her story and see how hope, resilience, and your support can transform lives. Will you support childhood cancer survivors? Your generosity makes stories like Chinsini’s a reality. Every donation helps provide scholarships and educational opportunities for survivors, giving them the tools they need for a brighter future. Together, we can help more children Learn, Heal, and Thrive. Every child with cancer, wherever they live in the world, should have equal access to the best possible treatment & care
About us
World Child Cancer’s vision is to see a world where every child with cancer has access to the best possible treatment and care. Our mission is to improve cancer diagnosis, treatment and palliative care for children in low and middle income countries, tackling the global inequality in the treatment of childhood cancer. We do this by establishing twinning partnerships linking hospitals in the developing world with hospitals in the developed world to provide a two-way transfer of expertise and skills to create locally appropriate solutions to the problem of childhood cancer in each country. This expertise and knowledge sharing is generously donated for free by our network of dedicated healthcare professionals.

Today is World Cancer Day, a time to reflect on how we can make cancer care more effective, compassionate, and accessible. At World Child Cancer, we know that every child’s cancer journey is unique—so their care should be too. Too often, cancer treatment focuses only on the disease, rather than the whole person. People-centred care ensures that children receive medical treatment alongside emotional and social support, giving them the best chance to thrive. Take James, a 15-year-old with B-cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Cancer treatment has been tough, but through nutrition support and play therapy, he has found strength and resilience. During a session, he drew a superhero dog named Jinsk, symbolising his determination to face challenges head-on. This #WorldCancerDay, we stand with Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in advocating for #UnitedByUnique—a campaign calling for cancer care that truly puts people first. Do YOU want to support holistic care for children with cancer around the world? 📢 Share your story – Personal experiences shape policy. Add your voice: https://lnkd.in/e2VShfae 💡 Support people-centred care – Advocate for policies that prioritise equitable, compassionate treatment 🤝 Partner with us – We are grateful to organisations like Amgen (Sean Lybrand, Philip Anderson), Foundation S, International Children's Palliative Care Network, LEO Foundation // LEO Fondet, Ramesh Gupta Memorial Trust, Global Health Partnerships (formerly THET), Together Against Childhood Cancer (TACC), UBS Optimus Foundation, and many more who have already had a transformative impact in holistically supporting children and their families. Every child, no matter where they are born, deserves care that recognises their unique needs. For 787 children at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Malawi, school didn’t stop just because they were in the hospital. Thanks to our hospital school, children with cancer can continue learning, dreaming, and building their future—despite their diagnosis. But too many children around the world still lack access to education while undergoing treatment. As we launch our Learn, Heal, Thrive campaign for International Childhood Cancer Day, we’re calling on our network to help us expand this lifeline of education, hope, and stability to even more children. The Impact So Far: 787 children have continued their education while receiving treatment 40 students sat their end-of-term exams 100% pass rate for oncology students who took exams Education shouldn’t stop when treatment starts. With your help, we can bridge the gap and ensure children with cancer don’t fall behind. 📢 Join us in making a difference. Give the gift of education today! https://bit.ly/3E6Qrw9
