Master Teacher in Residence (Science/English) at Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership • Outstanding Primary Teacher of the Year, 2019-Victorian Education Excellence Awards.

Yesterday was magical! Teaching Excellence Learning Communities (TELCs) are dynamic networks of amazing teachers from diverse schools within the Teaching Excellence Program at the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership! I am truly grateful to my teachers! Our room was buzzing as they shared their practitioner inquiries. They discussed their identified problem of practice, the responsive pedagogical approaches they experimented with, the collaborative expertise they utilised, and the meaningful changes they made in their schools. It was inspiring to see each teacher take agency as a change maker. I was in awe as they reflected on their beliefs, values, and passions to define their next steps. They proudly explored their teacher identity through their teacher portfolios, showcasing the growth in their dispositions, instructional practices and student outcomes. My students frequently bring me tears of joy in my classroom, but yesterday, the warmth these teachers radiated as they proudly shared their invaluable insights, and expertise truly touched my heart. Hats off to these diligent teachers for embodying the TEP ambitions to enhance teaching quality and elevate the profession, enabling all students to engage deeply in their learning. A big thank you to Nick Cummins for supporting me with my TELC!

--DEd | Teacher | Educational Leader | Director - Immersive Education

Last week I had the privilege of facilitating two professional learning days in Ballarat for the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership on Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in education. Within these sessions teachers from both Primary and Secondary schools across the state developed an understanding of what GenAI is, how it can be used to support teaching practice and considered its implications on assessment in schools. A big thank you to the Master Teacher team at the Academy for their work in planning these sessions and to co-facilitators Rachael Patrick and Paul McAloon for their expertise and support. In addition to being a leader in the GenAI space the Academy is now taking applications for the 2025 intake of its Teaching Excellence Program. If you are, or know a teacher who is, looking to improve teaching practice, this is the professional learning to do in 2025! More information about the program, including how to apply, can be found on the Academy website: https://lnkd.in/gpSeU3GH
