Some online harms are more common over the holidays, which can make this time of year particularly challenging. Community organisations, services and practices can play a key role in protecting children and young people. When abuse happens online it can impact every aspect of a child's life. The abuse can follow them everywhere that they carry a device, and rapidly spread in very public spaces, making it feel inescapable. Children need supportive adults to help them get harmful online content removed, navigate the impacts of the abuse and find extra support. It's important to know what do if it happens to a child or family you are supporting. eSafety has resources that can help you: ➡ Recognise the signs of online abuse ➡ Take action if you know about or suspect online abuse ➡ Report online abuse including cyberbullying, child sexual abuse, and other forms of tech-based abuse.
