Sometimes it's necessary to acquire bathymetric data to a datum which differs to the final deliverable datum. In some cases, the actual ellipsoid to chart datum model can only be generated once seafloor mounted tide gauges have been recovered and the tide data processed. So how do you change the vertical datum of a project - what is your preferred method? Some suggestions are - SUGGESTION – apply a final height or a ‘tide’ file in Qimera after editing / validation stage. SUGGESTION – apply a new vertical datum model post-acquisition SUGGESTION - use no model in Qinsy or only a static offset, then apply model in Qimera during processing/editing/validation. Or make sure Qimera cannot find the model (e.g., EGM) by removing it from the computer. Over six days in June this year SandMap conducted a sub bottom profiling survey at Sanctuary Cove Golf Club to assess the sediment depth of 23 lakes on the golf course. The survey team utilised a customised 3m punt, the Sandtini, equipped with an electric motor for efficient navigation across the water bodies and allowing access to water up to 0.2m deep. An Innomar Compact system was used for the sub bottom profiling, supported by Acoustic Imaging. Given the unique setting, the team used golf carts to transport equipment and personnel around the course. To ensure safety from stray golf balls, the team wore hard hats throughout the operation and used a spotter for warning. The survey successfully identified depth of sediment for each lake, providing a wealth of information for golf course maintenance management. #SandMap #surveyor #Hydrography #subbottomprofiler #Surveying #EnvironmentalScience #Innovation #hydrographicsurveyor #sediment

THS Geoscience have been incredibly gracious hosts of this event, nothing has been too much for Safaruddin Kamaruddin and his generous team. Being the first #QPSsoftware reseller in the region to host an in-person and online simultaneous event like this for QPS outside the Netherlands is a huge undertaking. They have faced the inevitable challenges that arose at a first time 'mobilisation' such as this with professionalism and calmness, and that is much appreciated.

Workflow Automation in Qimera. This tool has been around for a few years in #Qimera but the commands available have been limited. The goodnews is that they are now being expanded to include more and more useful commands. QPS says that even more commands will be added if the interest is there from users – so why not try scripting for Qimera, build up script batches and increase automation?
