  • Today in Albury Wodonga the first sod has been turned on one of Australia’s largest renewable hydrogen projects, starting the energy transition for the local gas network and providing a new source of renewable energy for regional industry, homes and businesses. Federal Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy, The Hon. Josh Wilson MP, joined us, along with project partners and community leaders to mark the beginning of construction of the Hydrogen Park Murray Valley project. A 10-megawatt LONGi Hydrogen electrolyser will form the centrepiece of the project, generating around 500 tonnes of renewable hydrogen and eliminating upwards of 3,000 tonnes of emissions each year. The renewable hydrogen from the Hydrogen Park will be blended into the local network at up to 10% by volume to commercial and industrial gas users, and around 40,000 Albury-Wodonga homes and businesses. Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen MP said, “Producing renewable hydrogen on this scale has never been done in Australia before, so this project is blazing a trail to scale up green hydrogen production, and that’s why we’re backing it.” Our Acting Chief Executive Officer, Cathryn McArthur added, “AGIG is committed to reducing emissions and we believe that renewable gases can play a critical role through the transition - this will be our third renewable hydrogen project, following the success of our Hydrogen Park facilities in South Australia and in Gladstone. “We thank the Australian and Victorian Governments for their support of this project, along with our project partners and the Albury-Wodonga community for welcoming this important facility.” For more details visit https://lnkd.in/gKQdxnEy #renewableenergy #renewablegas #renewablehydrogen #hydrogen #hypmv

  • Our Safety Team has been awarded the Australian Pipelines and Gas Association (APGA) Safety Award for 2024. This Award recognises the continuous improvement work our Safety Team has completed over several years in Underground Asset Locating - reducing the number and severity of Asset Strikes. Our commitment to this project went beyond just complying with relevant laws and regulations. The Team developed a program that was specific for the gas industry - protecting our people during their daily work. Joh Birgersson, our EGM People Safety & Culture, said, "A special thanks to our HSE Team, gas field workers (whose collaboration was crucial), DBYD certification (now trading as CERTLOC) for technical support and guidance, and our Service provider Partners - APA Group, Service Stream, Ventia, Downer, Diona and many smaller businesses." The award was accepted by Johanna Birgersson and Peter Napolitano, Head of Group HSE, at the APGA Annual Conference at the Adelaide Convention Centre. At AGIG our business has a very strong focus on safety, for both our communities and out staff. An award such as this is an important acknowledgement of the ongoing focus of our team. #APGA2024 #safety #infrastructure

  • 💚 Happy #NationalHydrogenDay 💚 we are celebrating the investment happening around Australia (and the world) to harness the potential of green hydrogen, a fuel that can help us meet #netzero targets. As the world strives to meet net-zero, we need to deploy all tools in our toolkit; the ability of hydrogen to store energy, coupled with the electricity system and decarbonising a range of end-users makes hydrogen an important part of a net-zero system. We are proud of the role we are playing to bring this emerging energy source to customers. Our blending projects show how we can develop projects in a staged manner; building supply chains, engaging with customers, driving regulatory change and ultimately lowering costs; whilst also lowering emissions by substituting a portion of natural gas with renewable hydrogen. From HyP SA (online May 2021) to HyP Gladstone (expected online end-2024) to HyP Murray Valley (expected online end-2025) – these projects show how gas networks play an important role in underpinning hydrogen production, which is then used to decarbonise industry and transport…and there is still more to come! • Our Hydrogen Park in South Australia (HyP SA) was the first of its kind in Australia when it launched in May 2021, and it is still the largest of its type today. HyP SA is supplying its local gas network, about 4,000 households and businesses, with a volume blend of up to 10% renewable hydrogen, as well as supplying 100% renewable hydrogen to industry and transport – including public transport hydrogen buses that have travelled nearly 1 million kms since they launched! Our electrolyser at HyP SA has produced over 39,600kg of renewable hydrogen, and has delivered enough renewable gas into the local network to fuel the equivalent of nearly 100K hot showers or cook over 618K pots of pasta. Importantly, a survey of our customers receiving renewable gas showed customer satisfaction to be high, with 73% extremely or somewhat satisfied, and 27% neutral, about receiving renewable blended gas. We have been honoured to host over 5,500 delegates and visitors at HyP SA – sharing our insights and passions for renewable hydrogen! HyP SA is a project that has provided us, and the wider renewable gas industry around the world, many insights that inform bigger more ambitious projects, including Hydrogen Park Gladstone (currently being commissioned), Hydrogen Park Murray Valley, a 10MW electrolyser due to begin construction very soon, and three more hydrogen park projects in early planning phases. • Last week our teams celebrated R U OK? Day across Australia by embracing Conversation Starter Shirts created by TradeMutt Workwear. These shirts act as a visual encouragement for us to have meaningful wellbeing conversations with everyone at work. R U OK? conversations are relevant every day of the year. Whether your role is based in an office, remote working, on a remote operational site, or on the road – mental health can be an invisible issue for all of us. And one that shouldn’t be ignored. We look forward to seeing bright pops of colour around our offices and on the road all year round, and if you happen to see one of our team in a Conversation Starter Shirt feel free to ask them about it! Inside the pocket is a handy QR code you can scan to access more information about the collaboration between TradeMutt and TIACS, or you can find more information here: https://lnkd.in/g8EUfQqs #RUOKDay #RUOK #TIACS #trademutt #mentalhealth #oneteam
