  • Today in Albury Wodonga the first sod has been turned on one of Australia’s largest renewable hydrogen projects, starting the energy transition for the local gas network and providing a new source of renewable energy for regional industry, homes and businesses. Federal Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy, The Hon. Josh Wilson MP, joined us, along with project partners and community leaders to mark the beginning of construction of the Hydrogen Park Murray Valley project. A 10-megawatt LONGi Hydrogen electrolyser will form the centrepiece of the project, generating around 500 tonnes of renewable hydrogen and eliminating upwards of 3,000 tonnes of emissions each year. The renewable hydrogen from the Hydrogen Park will be blended into the local network at up to 10% by volume to commercial and industrial gas users, and around 40,000 Albury-Wodonga homes and businesses. Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen MP said, “Producing renewable hydrogen on this scale has never been done in Australia before, so this project is blazing a trail to scale up green hydrogen production, and that’s why we’re backing it.” Our Acting Chief Executive Officer, Cathryn McArthur added, “AGIG is committed to reducing emissions and we believe that renewable gases can play a critical role through the transition - this will be our third renewable hydrogen project, following the success of our Hydrogen Park facilities in South Australia and in Gladstone. “We thank the Australian and Victorian Governments for their support of this project, along with our project partners and the Albury-Wodonga community for welcoming this important facility.” For more details visit https://lnkd.in/gKQdxnEy #renewableenergy #renewablegas #renewablehydrogen #hydrogen #hypmv

  • This week Mars embarked on a world first for industry powered by renewable energy right here in Australia. We congratulate Mars Petcare on this amazing initiative and the leadership role they are taking to position Mars Petcare in Wodonga as the first industrial operation in Australia to run on 100% carbon neutral energy. 🌿 We are proud to partner with Mars Petcare in Wodonga to decarbonise their gas use through our Hydrogen Park Murray Valley facility, which started construction earlier this month. Through our partnership, Mars will be the first industrial company to purchase renewable gas certificates, which will displace over 10% of Mars Australia’s total gas consumption – an important step in decarbonising their business’s gas use and a first for Mars around the world. We believe a range of renewable energies will be needed to achieve net zero as quickly as possible - the combination of renewable electricity and renewable gas at this facility is an excellent demonstration of that. Well done Mars! • At AGIG we think that 100% renewable hydrogen gas and biomethane will help Australia reach net zero. Projects such as Hydrogen Park South Australia have been successfully supplying a blend of renewable hydrogen into the network at up to 10% by volume to about 4,000 local households and businesses. Just a week ago we broke ground in Wodonga, Victoria, for our most ambitious project yet, our 10MW Hydrogen Park Murray Valley facility, where we will generate around 500 tonnes of renewable hydrogen. Our Hydrogen Park Gladstone facility is due to come online this year, supplying a blend of renewable hydrogen into the entire Gladstone gas network. We are excited for the potential for biomethane in Victoria! Article: Biogas 'quick win' wasted, Herald Sun, 22 October 2024 #renewablegas #renewableenergy #biomethane

  • Our Safety Team has been awarded the Australian Pipelines and Gas Association (APGA) Safety Award for 2024. This Award recognises the continuous improvement work our Safety Team has completed over several years in Underground Asset Locating - reducing the number and severity of Asset Strikes. Our commitment to this project went beyond just complying with relevant laws and regulations. The Team developed a program that was specific for the gas industry - protecting our people during their daily work. Joh Birgersson, our EGM People Safety & Culture, said, "A special thanks to our HSE Team, gas field workers (whose collaboration was crucial), DBYD certification (now trading as CERTLOC) for technical support and guidance, and our Service provider Partners - APA Group, Service Stream, Ventia, Downer, Diona and many smaller businesses." The award was accepted by Johanna Birgersson and Peter Napolitano, Head of Group HSE, at the APGA Annual Conference at the Adelaide Convention Centre. At AGIG our business has a very strong focus on safety, for both our communities and out staff. An award such as this is an important acknowledgement of the ongoing focus of our team. #APGA2024 #safety #infrastructure

  • 💚 Happy #NationalHydrogenDay 💚 we are celebrating the investment happening around Australia (and the world) to harness the potential of green hydrogen, a fuel that can help us meet #netzero targets. As the world strives to meet net-zero, we need to deploy all tools in our toolkit; the ability of hydrogen to store energy, coupled with the electricity system and decarbonising a range of end-users makes hydrogen an important part of a net-zero system. We are proud of the role we are playing to bring this emerging energy source to customers. Our blending projects show how we can develop projects in a staged manner; building supply chains, engaging with customers, driving regulatory change and ultimately lowering costs; whilst also lowering emissions by substituting a portion of natural gas with renewable hydrogen. From HyP SA (online May 2021) to HyP Gladstone (expected online end-2024) to HyP Murray Valley (expected online end-2025) – these projects show how gas networks play an important role in underpinning hydrogen production, which is then used to decarbonise industry and transport…and there is still more to come!
