As the principal corporate supporter of Carlton Football Club's Carlton Respects program, we were delighted to host guest speakers Patricia Kinnersly and AFLW player, Harriet Cordner for breakfast at our Cremorne HQ recently. As CEO of Our Watch, Patty shared her expertise and insights in the fight against gender inequality and men's violence against women with our guests. We discussed how the corporate sector plays a vital role in supporting female staff affected by domestic violence through taking a clear, principled stance (set by management) to fight gender inequality in all its forms. As a seasoned AFLW player and a school teacher, Harriet shared the impact of Carlton's Road to Respect program which she herself has taught to her students. Through a learning platform, primary school aged children are educated on gender stereotypes and the importance of mutual respect for men and women. Well done to Team Alfasi Property who recently took part in a gardening working bee at one of Lighthouse Foundation's homes for the young people they support. Weeding, sweeping, blowing and even whipper-snippering was all on the agenda for our team, who brought their best smiles, hearty elbow grease and comradery to get the job done together. Our friends at Lighthouse told us: "For a number of our young people, connection with a community of support is often hard to visualise. By contributing your time and coming out to support the maintenance of an environment that for many is the first stable and secure home they have found themselves in, is a very real and tangible representation of this support. Please know that the significance of days like this go far beyond a full green-waste bin." Well done to Eeshenn W., Paul Gill, Daniel Gray and Nadia Peens, PMP who rode 30km in Victoria's beautiful Yarra Valley late last year.
