Dr. Paul Greenhill, a principal consultant with more than 30 years of experience in the mining industry, will present: Applying Geometallurgical Principles for Metallurgical Sample Selection. This presentation will explore how leveraging extensive geological data can optimize high-cost metallurgical test programs, making them more efficient and improving processing predictions. Aligning sample selection with orebody geology is crucial for refining plant design, cost estimation, and project evaluation. Since only a small portion of the orebody is typically tested before mining, integrating ore characteristics—such as hardness and mineral processing response - with geological data is key. This approach not only enhances predictions but also leads to operational improvements, better orebody knowledge, and more effective operational design. The use of machine learning will also be highlighted, demonstrating how it helps to refine sample selection and addresses the critical question of 'How many samples do we need?' This method ensures that testwork is both cost-effective and highly accurate.
