For Australia to be the trusted leader of Remote Operations, Science, Technology and Service, on Earth and in Space.

About us

AROSE is a not-for-profit, industry-led consortium with a vision for Australia to be the trusted leader of Remote Operations, Science, Technology and Service, on Earth and in Space. Standing at the forefront of knowledge and technology transfer between Australia’s traditional industry sectors and the burgeoning international Space sector, AROSE brings these sectors together to collaborate on targeted, industry-led projects with Australia’s world-leading Remote Operations expertise at their core. These projects deliver high-end, niche solutions and technology for applications from Earth to Space and back again; solutions and applications that can transform industries, explore Space, and return benefits to our economy, workforce, communities and planet, now and for future generations. AROSE was founded in February 2020, borne from the vision of former Woodside Head of Intelligent and Autonomous Systems, Russell Potapinski and former astronaut Col. Pamela Melroy (now Deputy Administrator of NASA). AROSE is headquartered in Perth thanks to the generous support of the Western Australian government through the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation.

    STEM Program Manager at AROSE

It is so rare to have funding to provide a free program to schools at scale, let alone in-person at regional and rural ones, so I'm particularly excited about the coming year. My back of the envelope calculations for the AROSE AVISTA program shows the serious kilometres our presenters from Fizzics Education will be covering in regional and rural Australia in Terms 2, 3 and 4 this year. 🗺️ Nearly 20,000 km through regional and rural Australia. 🛣️ Travelling 60% of Highway 1 around the country. 🚢 Add another 1,000 km by sea (hello Tasmania!). 🏙️ This excludes all metro areas (we're visiting all capital cities as well as spending two full terms in both Sydney and Melbourne, so we can assume at least another 10,000 km here). Our presenters will be delivering important STEM Careers education into schools to inspire the future high-tech workforce. We'll also have our online STEM Challenge, VR Hub, a huge Teacher Professional Learning Program and Careers Events at locations across the country. 📅 Don’t miss out - register your school for a free visit today and learn more at www.avista.org.au #AROSE #AVISTAprogram #schoolpathwaysprogram #futureworkforce #stemcareers #afuturemadeinaustralia Leanne Cunnold Illuminate-FNQ Ben Newsome CF Nova Systems Australia and New Zealand Gilmour Space Technologies Gia Parish UWA Defence and Security Institute Gunggandji Aerospace Joseph Banks Secondary College

  • Thank you to all who attended yesterday's Cross-industry Collaboration on Automation and Robotics Panel at EXA - Energy Exchange Australia 2025. Moderated by our Director of Resources & Space, Michelle Keegan, it was fantastic to hear key insights from industry leaders in energy, resources, space and technology on the opportunities and challenges of integrating automation and robotics technologies across different fields. Liam Hanna, Global BDM at Nexxis, discussed the importance of creating awareness of technology applications across industries, while Renu Kannu, National Robotics & Innovation Lead at CORE Innovation Hub, shared the exciting opportunities for testing and development of technologies at the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct. We also heard from Suzannah Pember, Technology Facilities Manager at Woodside Energy, on the importance of robotics and automation in data capture and creating safe working environments. Samuel Forbes, Director of SpAARC at Fugro, discussed the journey of Fugro over the last 10 years to move to fully remote operations and their move into the space sector leading the design of Australia’s first lunar rover, working with Intuitive Machines on their lunar terrain vehicle and the monitoring of their lunar lander missions. He reinforced the economic opportunities and role that WA can play in advancing industries globally through the sharing of technologies. 🚀 We look forward to continuing the conversation and exploring more of these opportunities together. Until next time!
