About us

The AHP is the only union in Victoria which specifically looks after the industrial interests of Hospital Pharmacists working in the health industry. AHP is a component Association of the Health Services Union (HSU) Victoria No. 4 Branch which is the federally-registered union which is party to the federal awards and enterprise agreements which govern the terms and conditions of employment of medical scientists, dietitians, audiologists and clinical perfusionists, medical physicists, genetic counsellors, psychologists and hospital pharmacists. These awards and agreements cover medical scientists, psychologists and pharmacists employed in a range of settings in both the public and private sector - in hospitals, community health centres, pathology laboratories and psychological and mental health/psychiatric services.

  • From 26 August, workers across the country have a new right in the Fair Work Act. The new law is called the ‘Employee Right to Disconnect’. This new law is designed to protect workers who do not wish to engage with the workplace outside their working hours. Our Union has proudly campaigned for the last decade for "No Pay No Way". Why?   • The Women's Rights at Work Conference 2024 is on August 23 from 9am to 5pm and we would be thrilled to have you join us for what is sure to be a fantastic day. Learn from and take action with the women who make up our movement with a full day of panels, workshops and solidarity. From using new laws to organise and win equal pay, to getting women's health on the agenda, ending pay secrecy and creating workplaces that are safe and respectful for all women and non-binary workers, the Conference will be diving into new legislative changes designed to end gender inequality at work. The Conference will also profile union campaigns winning for women and give members and delegates the tools, skills, confidence and power to organise and win at work. The Conference is open to all women, gender diverse and non-binary folks. It runs from 9.00am - 5.00pm and is followed by a social BBQ and drinks. This is a ticketed event and costs $55 for waged people and $35 for unwaged people.   • Today is Equal Pay Day It marks the 50 days into the new financial year that Australian women must work to earn the same, on average, as men did last year. This year's theme is "it doesn't add up." The national gender pay gap measures the difference between the average weekly full-time base salary earnings of women and men, expressed as a percentage of men’s earnings. It is a measure of women’s overall position in the paid workforce and does not compare like roles. Equal pay is the concept of women and men being paid the same for performing the same role or different work of equal or comparable value. In Australia, this has been a legal requirement since 1969. The gender pay gap is different to equal pay. The Workplace Gender Equality Agency's research has identified three main contributors to Australia’s gender pay gap: * gender discrimination (36%) * care, family responsibilities and workforce participation (33%), * gender segregation by job type and industry (24%) Read more about it at: https://lnkd.in/gvp6vMj5
