The business of Australia-India fashion at Melbourne Fashion Week 🌏✨ The business of fashion is playing an increasingly important role in the Australia-India trade relationship. The India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) is paving the way for greater collaboration, opening new doors for Australian exporters in textiles, wool, and sustainable fashion. India's rapidly expanding market, expected to reach USD 190 billion in apparel by 2025, presents a significant opportunity for Australian brands to meet the rising demand for high-quality fabrics, sustainable products, and luxury fashion. The Australia India Business Council event will bring together a distinguished panel, including Indian Australian actor and model Sharon John (The Block, Neighbours), Indian Australian fashion designer Kudrat Makkar Makkar (MASTANI Label), and other key figures from the industry. Our very own Molina Asthana GAICD Industry Chapter Head Sports, Arts & Culture will facilitate the panel discussion. We’ll explore how the evolving trade landscape is enhancing export opportunities for Australian fashion businesses and enabling stronger ties between our two nations. Don’t miss this chance to learn about the future of fashion trade and network with industry leaders driving growth in the Australia-India corridor. ✨ A special thank you to our sponsors, nib Group, University of Melbourne, and Asian Australian Alliance for helping us bring Australia India fashion design and trade into the spotlight, showcasing style and unlocking opportunities for new trade and cultural discussions that strengthen economic ties between Australia and India. The Australia India Business Council Remembers Ratan Tata It is with deep sadness that we at the Australia India Business Council (AIBC) reflect on the news of Shri Ratan Tata's passing at the age of 86. A respected leader in the global business community, Ratan Tata’s contributions extended far beyond his role with Tata Group. He was a visionary who championed innovation, ethical leadership, and social responsibility, leaving a lasting impact on India's economy and the world. Ratan Tata was not just a prominent business figure; he was a statesman, philanthropist, and a bridge-builder between nations. His support for strengthening Australia-India ties inspired numerous collaborations across industries, including education, technology, and sustainability. His dedication to corporate social responsibility and philanthropy set a gold standard, embodying the values that AIBC holds dear. As we reflect on his remarkable legacy, we extend our deepest condolences to the Tata family, friends, and all who were touched by his vision and kindness. The world has lost a true pioneer, but his spirit will continue to guide and inspire the future of India, Australia, and beyond.
