It was a privilege to share the strides we have made in just 12 months of opening our UK office. In one year, we’ve allocated more than £2 billion against our five-year target of £5.25 billion. Thank you to the United Kingdom Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, Minister of State for Investment, Department for Business and Trade and HM Treasury, Poppy Gustafsson OBE, Special Adviser on Business and Investment Varun Chandra, and Office for Investment CEO, Daniel Gieve, for your warm welcome and a productive meeting this week. We’re excited to keep building on this momentum through close collaboration and strong investment opportunities in the UK’s capital markets, to deliver successful investment outcomes on behalf of our 1.1 million members.  10 Downing Street, Department for Business and Trade, HM Treasury, Aware Super UK

AI, with its transformative capabilities, presents a unique opportunity to reshape how we work across the business, interact with our members, and manage our investments.      At Aware Super, we've embraced AI, forming a strong capability across our teams to test and learn what is possible. While AI offers unique opportunities to improve the help and advice we offer our members, safety and clear member benefits are key factors in adoption.    Chief Operating Officer Sally Collins says, funds need to tread carefully and prioritise the benefits to members.     As reported by Amelia McGuire for The Australian Financial Review Aware Super established a code of guidelines for ethical AI use about a year ago, which was embedded into our overall risk framework.     Speaking at the AFR Super and Wealth Summit on Tuesday Sally said companies should resist the temptation to haphazardly spend on AI programs without properly tailoring them to member requirements. “It’s very tempting, these shiny new toys are distracting, but if not directly linked to your strategy or tailored to each member it’s not going to deliver the right result,” Ms Collins told the Summit. “We need to ensure everything is done with transparency and safety."   URL : https://lnkd.in/gutFExxH

Have you hit the ‘Oh crap!’ moment? “People often ask when they should start planning for retirement. And there’s no better time than right now,” says Katrina McPhee, Aware Super’s Chief of Staff and Group Executive, Advocacy and Engagement. The reality is, we know it’s hard for people to see further than 15 years ahead, and as a result, most people aren’t engaged with their super until they hit what we call the ‘oh crap!’ moment. This tends to happen between the ages of 45 and 55 when retirement is in the not-too-distant future. Read more about getting ready for your retirement from Cara Jenkin The Age
